Football Crisis

1. No as the Editorial Chief of France Football, I personally think that Ballon D’Or is
awarded fairly taking into consideration the individual and collective
performances of the players, the class, skill and talent of the player and overall
judgement of his career.

To make the selection process fair, France Football assembles a jury of the most
respected journalists from various footballing nations. Based on the ranks
assigned by the journalists, the player is awarded the Ballon D'Or. Though I
agree fame is taken into consideration but not at the expense of the player’s
capabilities and actual performances.

2. Yes, in the past, you might have seen that football has been dominated a lot by
Spanish teams due to a remarkable era of players. If you look at the UEFA
Champions league itself, Spanish and Italian teams have won the competition a
combined 12 times out of the 20 times it has been hosted in the past 20 years.
Meaning that these players had more influence on football at that time and their
selection as Ballon D’Or winners seem pretty justified.

3. The thing with awards like Ballon D’Or is that rewards can often be questionable
regardless of how fair the voting system is. The respective players with their own
fanbases will always feel disheartened on losing out on this award, hence
showing the value it possesses. This voting system has been going on since the
inception of this award and if there weren’t any problems before then how can
they exist now? It’s just that people are more vocal nowadays but the voting
system reflects how the Ballon D’Or is justified year after year. If you observe
carefully, the popular vote among people winning the Ballon D’Or is usually the
case and it can’t be denied.
