Dear UNM Custodial Services,

I am writing this email to inform you of the terrible smell in Dane Smith Hall. There has been

multiple complaints of a bad odor within the building.

I have heard many complaints from students and faculty about the terrible smell that seems to

reside permanently in the Dane Smith Hall common areas. The smell has often been compared to

the smell of “buttcheeks.” The smell often leads me to losing my appetite. Between classes at

Dane Smith Hall I have a very small window to eat before my next class and being in the main

square there often makes me not want to. I would eat outside but it is so cold that my food

always goes cold before I can finish it. I would like to offer some solutions to this problem. I

suggest using another type of cleaner to mop the floors with. At home I use a cleaner called pine

sol with another cleaner called bleach they kill all of the stench bacteria and leave a clean smell.
