an Apex Legends challenge a year in the making.
The virtual maid finally completed her solo
queue to Masters quest after benching it due to
health concerns and other commitments,
leaving her in shock.

Minato Aqua is known as one of the best gamers

in Hololive, but she had to put the mouse and
keyboard down in 2021 due to health issues and
talent commitments.

At the time, she was trying to complete her dream

challenge — reaching Master rank in Apex
Legends. She had lingered around in Diamond for
quite some time, but could never get that shiny
purple border.

Aqua was determined to do it alone; to try and

silence the haters who doubted her after she
pulled out the first time. Finally, 12 months on
after embarking on the challenge, Minato Aqua
finally has the rank she’s long sought after.

It came on a February 4 stream, two weeks on

after she kickstarted the challenge again. She
started in Platinum 4 and slowly grinded her way
up to Diamond 1, where she sat tantalizingly close
to her dream.

In a clinical final game though, where she racked

up four kills with 1000 damage in a big win, she
finally saw that rank up screen, and it left her in
tears.

“Is this what you call ‘choking up on your words’?

I’m really happy,” she said, breaking down on
stream.

“A year ago I tried the solo Master challenge but I

couldn’t achieve it. I was really frustrated and I let
everyone that believed in me down.

“People were saying that it might be impossible

after all, but this is real. I’m really happy. I’m glad
that I worked hard to achieve it. People were
saying ‘it’s impossible’ or ‘you’re not a gamer maid
anymore’, but thank you everyone that believed
and waited for me.”

She was joined by more than 50,000 people live —

her single YouTube stream outnumbering the
number of viewers on Twitch for Apex Legends at
the same time (which sat at around 44,000
viewers) — and the VOD has now been watched
more than a million times.

“Thank you so much for all your support until the

end,” she said on Twitter after ending her
stream. “I did my best even though I kept being
told it was impossible. This e!ort was not in vain.”

With Master now achieved, Minato Aqua could

choose to push to Predator — with Season 12
around the corner that may be hard. But the maid
feels like she’s redeemed herself and is ready to
take on whatever gaming challenge sits around
the corner in 2022.

Former Hololive star Uruha Rushia has o!cially

re-debuted on YouTube under her previous alias,
Mikeneko. Rushia was dismissed from Hololive
earlier in 2022 after breaching her contract with
the star VTuber agency.

Uruha Rushia made headlines in February 2022

after the Hololive star had her contract with the
agency suddenly terminated following a reported
breach.

Cover Corp claimed the star, who had more than

1.5 million YouTube subscribers at the time, had
“been distributing false information to third
parties and…leaking information, including
communications regarding business matters.”

It came after the star reportedly shared private

information to clear her name regarding a
relationship scandal with popular utaite
‘Mafumafu’.

The company stated her actions caused

“reputational damage”, and she was removed as a
result. The news not only shook the VTuber
community, but her fellow Hololive idols like
genmates Usada Pekora and Houshou Marine,
and English talent Mori Calliope.

Uruha Rushia was removed from Hololive in February

2022, but has made a return to VTubing under her old
alias Mikeneko.

Two months on though, Rushia is opening up

more to the public sphere by re-debuting as a
VTuber under her old alias Mikeneko. While she
had done the occasional stream since, the April
24 broadcast was her first with her new 2D
model.

Mikeneko’s re-debut peaked at nearly 70,000

concurrent viewers during the April 24 stream.
The two-hour recording has also been watched
more than 1 million times within two days.

The star did not talk much about her dismissal on

broadcast, instead opting to talk to fans about her
new model which is a return to the pink-hair
catgirl form she once assumed. She later hopped
onto Splatoon to play some games on stream in a
di"erent unlisted stream.

Mikeneko has managed to reclaim at least half of

her fanbase since leaving Hololive. She currently
sits at 811,000 YouTube subscribers and
442,000 Twitter followers — compared to 1.6
million and 1.1 million respectively while she was
Uruha Rushia.

It comes after another controversy involving

Mikeneko went around at the start of April, with
impersonators in Genshin Impact claiming they
were the streamer going around in co-op and
verbally abusing other players.

HOLOLIVE MORI CALLIOPE

Mori Calliope has penned a major deal with

Universal Music as the Hololive star continues
her booming career as an artist. However,
there’s concerns her new tracks will pose a
DMCA threat to other stars — something Calli is
trying to avoid.

Mori Calliope is not just growing in the VTuber

space, but the musical one too.

After smashing through 2 million YouTube

subscribers, then releasing her first full-length
album, the reaper rapper has now penned a deal
with Universal Music to further grow her booming
career.

However, with the signing, there could be

problems for fellow Hololive talents.

Calli has been going hard on the music releases

recently, with the Hololive star recently dropping her
full-length UnAlive album before signing with Universal
Music.

Universal Music are known for being heavy-

handed on DMCA notices on their music, and
Calli’s will not be excluded. Given the popularity of
karaoke in the VTuber space too, those stars will
not be able to cover her new tracks.

Calli is doing her best to try and avoid that

situation though.

“Let me ask about that [DMCA problem] cause I

would not like that, but it’s something that we
kind of have to figure it out,” she explained.

“What I would love to do is figure out a way to

whitelist Holo channels, but it might take time. It’s
a work in progress.”

Calli did explain that she will still get monetization

from all the copyright things as part of her deal
with Universal Music, so there’s no reason to
“freak out” about that.

“It’s the same thing happening when you’d get the

Content ID on my Hololive stu! when I was with
Cover — it still comes to me.”

However, she especially wants fellow Hololive

stars to cover her music and use it in their
streams, much like how Calli has shared other
stars’ songs in the past.

“I will see what I can do about the karaoke

because I know there are Holo [members] who will
want to sing my songs,” she said.

“All of my previous works are fine [to use], they will

stay how they are. Like Red, and everything from
UnAlive and Your Mori and the Deadbeats EP. All
of that stays the same. It’s only songs from now
on.

“I will try my best for you, because wouldn’t that

fricken suck if I was singing my new songs on
stream and then all of a sudden the whole
operation gets shut down? Let me figure it out. I
think it’ll be okay.”

It’s not going to stop Calli’s regular content

schedule though. While she figures out the DMCA
issues with her label, she’s going to continue
playing games like Elden Ring, Terraria,
Bloodborne, and Ring Fit Adventure.

Hard on the press circuit with interviews

promoting his newest film ‘Morbius’, Jared Leto
had an iconic encounter with Shirakami Fubuki.
The bi-lingual interview, with the VTubers
questions and banter in Japanese, and Jared
Leto’s replies in English, is impossible to stop
watching.

Watching Jared Leto trying to comprehend

exactly what is going on, and his developing
reactions throughout the interview make this a
one-of-a-kind experience.

From the initial “wow” muttered under Leto’s

breath, it’s clear he is mildly unprepared for the
interview. What follows is nothing short of
wholesome chaos.

As described by Washington Post’s Gene Park, the

full interview is “as uncomfortable as it is
delightful.”
