Miguel María Grau Seminario, was a Peruvian soldier, sailor and politician, and posthumous grand admiral
of the Peruvian Navy, born on July 27, 1834, in Piura.

Miguel Grau always traveled by boat, but the boat disappeared in the Punta Gorda battle. Sometime later,
he won the naval battle of Iquique. It was the first time that Grau showed human sensitivity, since he not
only avoided harming the civilian population, but also saved enemy shipwrecks.
Finally, the Angamos fight took place on October 8, 1879. It was unequal combat. Grau died in the first
minutes of the combat, due to a grenade fired by the Cochrane.
