Dear Mr. Animas,

Good day!

We, Eryl David F. Bañez and John Vincent D. Dela Cruz, 5th year, BS Architecture
students from Cavite State University-Main Campus, Indang, Cavite, are currently working
on our undergraduate thesis entitled, “BeeHive: Hub for Interdisciplinary Studies of the
Varieties and Ecology of Bees”. This facility aims to introduce the importance of Bee in the
environment, on how it can help agriculture through pollination by establishing a research
and conservation facility as hubs for cultural education, entertainment, health and also to
foster an eco-tourism here in Cavite.
In line with this, we would like to request from your good office to gather all the necessary
information and documents regarding bees and allow us to have our own copy of the
requested documents. It is our goal to come up with a comprehensive study that would be
of much use to the community. Attached with this letter is a brief information about our
proposal. Rest assured that all gathered information and documents are for academic
purposes only.

We are humbly looking forward for your favorable response. We hope that this request will
merit your utmost consideration.

Thank you very much and God bless.

Respectfully yours,

ERYL DAVID F. BAÑEZ JOHN VINCENT D. DELA CRUZ

Thesis title proposal:

BeeHive: Hub for Interdisciplinary Studies of the Varieties and Ecology of Bees

Brief information:

Researches’ shows that although food security has been investigated in the Philippines for
the past 25 years, analysis tends to focus primarily on linking dietary requirements to poverty.
While this form of assessment has provided food insecurity indexes, it does not address the
multifaceted nature of food security in the country. Due to rapid industrialization and growth
rate in population, it is expected that our population will continue to increase in the next
couple of years.

Bees worldwide are dying out at an alarming rate in recent years due to a combination of
man-made factors. The overuse of pesticides has caused poisoning on bees. Habitat
destruction is also driving wild bee colonies away, as urbanization trends are projected to
intensify in the Philippines.

Bees are pollinators which transfer pollen from one flower to another. This fertilizes plants so
that they can grow and reproduce. Not only are bees critical to agriculture and growing food,
accounting for as much as 30% of the world's food production, they're necessary for wild
plants as well. It's estimated that as many as 90% of wild plants rely on pollinators like bees
to survive and thrive. Without bees, many of these plants would just die off.

The intention of this study is to provide a center for dealing with the studies of bees and its
ecology. Including communicating, educating and disseminating the beekeeping culture to
those interested. The purpose is to make people aware of the importance of nature and
environment changing through learning about the origins of the products and desire to give
people good health from the natural products of bees which can be both food and medicine.
For such purposes, the hub will develop the areas a new tourist attraction. To be able to
educate and deliver the ideas and products from the natural to external recipients. The
development of project will consist of tourism, learning, research, museum and medical
knowledge. Including the apitherapy and apiculture which is becoming popular.
