Maslow introduced his concept of a hierarchy of needs which arranges needs in ascending

order of importance. Maslow said in this human level there are five needs that can meet
people’s wants. First is physiological or personal needs that are the most basic or lowest
human needs. Personal needs mean the needs of living for example the needs for food,
water, clothes, and shelter. Next is Security or Safety needs. This is important in our life
because we want to live free from pain and discomfort, for example, an individual needs
economic safety to live and thrive in modern societies. The third is social needs which
mean love and a sense of belonging because humans have the need to give and receive love.
Fourth is Self-esteem that means self-respect and a sense of accomplishment. Lastly, the
highest human need is self-actualization. It refers to finding self-fulfillment and self-
expression, reaching the point in life for example a person might aim to become a
millionaire.
