INITIAL REVIEW REPORT

N21

Introduction

The article is aimed at addressing the competition law framework in all the BRICS nations. It
examines the BRICS country's competition law authority's institutional design and
enforcement capabilities and also traces their origin. This is followed by a conclusion.

Content

The majority of the article is descriptive in nature so the content is focused on facts. Section 2
and Section 3, which comprise of the majority of article’s content, merely address the
evolution of competition law in various nations and their present structure.

These sections lack originality and legal depth. Further, these are extremely similar to other
journal articles available online. Even though the author has written them in his own words,
his contribution to the field is missing.

In the conclusion, the author reiterates the facts from the previous section instead of
summarising them. Further, there is scope for more research in the suggestions and the author
must incorporate broader suggestions that affect other BRICS nations too, instead of solely
focusing on India.

Relevance

The article is relevant and contemporary. Various measures have been adopted by BRICS
competition law authorities during the Covid-19 pandemic and the article has addressed
them.

Originality

The article is in the author’s own words. However, the majority of the content is similar to
other articles available online and lacks legal depth.

Footnotes

The citations are not adequate for certain sections. Comments have been given accordingly.

Coherence
The article is mostly coherent and the arguments presented can be easily comprehended.
Certain grammatical errors have already been corrected by the copy editor. However, as
pointed out in the comments, the author could consider breaking down the paragraph into
various sub-parts. This would avoid confusion for the reader.
