Detailed Lesson Plan in Teaching Arts Grade II

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, 85% of the students should be able to:

a. Name the different kinds of lines and their characteristics;

b. Create a geometric design with contrasting lines;


c. Show appreciation of own design and of the others through an art exhibit.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Kinds of Lines and their Characteristics

Reference: Active MAPE 2 p.106-107

Materials: Oslo paper, pencil, crayons or pastel colors, pictures of beautiful


sceneries, small flat stone.

Value Integration: Creativity and Cooperation.

III. Procedure

A. Preparatory Activity

1. Opening Prayer
Let us all stand for our prayer. Lisley,
kindly lead the prayer. Lisley: "In the name of the father, the son, the
holy, spirit. Oh God Almighty... Amen."
Good morning class!

All: "We are all fine ma'am."

2. Checking of Attendance

B. Motivation

Show an illustration of lines. Ask the


students to describe the kinds of lines and their
characteristics.

tell what a line it is.

lines has two types of lines. It has thin and
thick lines.

topic this morning? Yes, Zeus? Zeus: "I think our topic for today is all about
kinds of lines."

one. Who has another idea? Angel. Angel: “The topic that we are going to tackle
this morning is all about kinds of lines and
their characteristics."
Very Good, Angel!

Our topic for today is all about "Kinds of


Lines and their Characteristics."
C. Presentation

Look and examine the drawing.

Does the picture show different kinds of


lines? Leo? Leo: "Yes, ma'am."

What did you see in the drawing?


Leo: "I see different kinds of lines that form
triangles.

Very good! Who else? May. May: "I also see a line that forms circles and
rectangle.

Amazing!

D. Discussion

In the drawing, you can see several linear


designs. Linear designs are designs out of
different kinds of lines that form rectangles,
triangles, and circles. These kinds of lines are
straight line and curve while the types of lines
are thin and thick.
The weave patterns and the lines and
colors, used in the woven textiles of the
different ethnic groups/ indigenous people
(T'nalak of T'boli, Ifugao, etc.) Which
correspond to certain meaning or symbols
emphasize their cultural heritage.

E. Application

Making a design for a gift wrap.

Let us have an activity class, I will group


you into 3 and you will create a creative design
for a gift wrap.

IV. Assignment

Directions: Look for a picture of cloth with geometric designs from old magazines or
newspapers. Art the assistance of your parents and guardians in cutting the picture.
