Document Development Exposition: Instructions and Usability Test Script

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
I originally planned on doing my instruction packet on building a chicken coop. Once I started on the
instructions for it, I realized it was way more than what was wanted. So, after this I decided to do my
instructions packet on a food recipe.

First Draft (for peer editing)

There were not many things that was recommended for me to change for my first draft. It was minor
things like spelling or grammar I missed.

Second Draft (for your packet)

With my second draft it was recommended that I add a few things in like shadowing, borders, and
rewriting some of my steps. I did not realize that these elements played such an important role in
instructions, but it was interesting to see the difference it made when added.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

For my final draft I added the recommendations you gave me for my second draft and reworded the
steps like you said. Another thing I did was add shadowing to my title and a border to make it stand
out a little more. Through my steps I added in a tip and a note that was not necessarily needed in the
step itself.
