REACTION PAPER
Discrimination, racism, and harassment in any aspect for a person is now already part of
life. The webinar entitled Safe Spaces Act “Bawal Bastos Law and Gender-based online sexual
management” is a lesson and at the same time an awareness for us. Prior to the all of the
guidance and knowledge shared to us by Atty. Che Macutay-Alviar, Cpa, I have realized that
there are things that we don’t expect to happen different situations that will change our lives. The
topic was so sensitive and personal that our emotional and psychological mind is much affected
but this law protects the rights of people to have a safety and free travelling outdoors. This law
applied to all people specially to the members of LGBTQ+ community because they’re the one
who mostly experienced such harassment and bullying. So that, this webinar is reminding us that
it is a must to show respect to the people around us no matter what is their sexual orientation,
gender identity and expression. It is also important to maintain our dignity and should not
involve ourselves on sexual harassments but to boost our morale instead.
