In your previous courses, you probably created pages for your por#olio specific to that course. In EDU 299, these
pages and ar"facts are going to change somewhat. In EDU 299, the page names will change as will some of the
ar"facts to be included on those pages:

EDU 280 will be named Mul"cultural and will include the Individual Culture Project and Mul"cultural Lesson Plan
EDU 214 will be named Educa"on Technology and will include only student created technology ar"facts
EDU 220 will be named Educa"on Psychology and will include the Case Study
EDU 201, 202, 203, or ECE 250 will be split into two different pages
Assessment
Educa"on Founda"ons
The Assessment page will include any lesson plans you created in any course as well as classroom/field
observa"ons.
The Educa"on Founda"ons page will include your philosophy of educa"on, as well as court cases and history
!meline, if you have them. ECE students will put their other ECE course ar!facts on this page.

Your narra"ves for these pages will address the following:

1) the program competency for that page
2) the ar"facts you did for that competency
3) what you learned by doing the ar"facts
4) how what you learned will help you in your future teaching

Crea"ng Por#olio Pages and Tabs:

First create your Home/Welcome Page. Pick a template theme that has the por"olio pages splayed across the top for
easy naviga!on. On your homepage you will want a professional-looking picture of yourself (CCSD dress code
standards). Also include the CSN star and the college name.

Next create the Mul"cultural Educa"on page. For this page your ar!facts will come from EDU 280 but the page and
tab will be named Mul!cultural Educa!on. The two ar!facts you want to include on this page are your Mul!cultural
Lesson Plan and your Individual Cultural Project (aka All About Me). If you do not have an Individual Culture Project,
you might have done one in EDU 214, your technology class. If so, you can include that ar!fact on this page.

Next you will create the Technology page. These ar!facts will come from EDU 214, but the page and tab will be
labeled Technology. Do NOT put anything on this page which is not an ar!fact you created! If your Technology
instructor wanted you to include documents which you did not create, you will need to remove them. Be careful not
to overload this page. Your readers are going to want to see visual depic!ons of technology, not simple word or
powerpoint documents, so choose your ar!facts in favor of those that show the technologies that you are able to
teach children. On this page, you want to wow your reader with colorful technology ar!facts, not pages of words.

Next you will create your Educa"on Psychology page. The ar!facts for this page will come from EDU 220, but the
page and tab will be labeled Educa!on Psychology. This is where you will put your Case Study (aka PEPSI).

Next you will create the Educa"on Founda"ons page. If you are an Elementary, Secondary, or Special Educa!on
student, you will include your court case ar!facts from EDU 210, your educa!on philosophy from EDU 201, 202, or
203, and history !meline (if you have one) from 201, 202, or 203. If you are an ECE student, you will include the
ar!facts from all your ECE courses on this page except your observa!ons from ECE 250.

Next you will create your Assessment page. The ar!facts on this page will include any lesson plans you created as
well as classroom observa!ons from EDU 201, 202, 203, or 250. If you created a classroom management plan in EDU
220, include that here.

Next create a page for Praxis. On this page you will put your Praxis scores and Praxis Analysis Paper.

Finally create the Reflec"on/Self-Assessment page.

This makes a total of 8 pages. There should be no more and no less than 8 pages in your por#olio for this course!

Wri"ng Page Narra"ves

Now write your page narra!ves for each of your pages, making sure to address the following points:

1) the program competency for that page

2) the ar"facts you did for that competency

3) what you learned by doing the ar"facts

4) how what you learned will help you in your future teaching

For instance, for the Mul!cultural Educa!on page, in your narra!ve you would address how you fulfilled the program
goal/competency: "Apply the dimensions of mul!cultural educa!on to support appropriate pedagogical prac!ces
for teaching diverse students." Think about what this means and what you learned by doing the ar!facts in this
sec!on that address this competency. Then tell how what you learned by doing the ar!facts will help you in your
future teaching. Do not say something general like, "I learned that my students will be from different cultures." This
doesn't tell me what you learned at all. A be#er example is "I learned how to apply mul!cultural themes to lesson
plans and why this is important" and then tell why it is important. Finally add the ar!fact(s) required for this page.

For the Praxis page write a very brief narra!ve explaining the importance of the Praxis in your educa!on journey and
why you are including it in your por"olio.

On your Home page, briefly tell your readers a li#le bit about yourself (1 point), what they will find in your por"olio (2
points), and why you have assembled it (to show them what you have accomplished and learned in your educa!on
program) (1 point). You may use a paragraph or bullet points. You may also include a favorite quota!on, but this is
en!rely op!onal. Include a professional looking picture of yourself (1 point).

In your Reflec!on, briefly address what you have learned about yourself and your educa!on by comple!ng your
educa!on program and por"olio and how this will benefit you in your future teaching. You can also include one of
your favorite quota!ons, your goals and dreams for your career, and anything else you want your future employer to
remember about you. You can do this in paragraph or bullet point form.

Copy and paste your page narra!ves to a word doc to run through Grammarly h#ps://www.grammarly.com/ , submit
to the Wri!ng Center, or submit to Smart Thinking for review (allow at least 48 hours for Smart Thinking.) Then make
the revisions to your por"olio as necessary according to the feedback.

Minor wri!ng errors throughout the por"olio (such as misspellings, typos, etc.) will result in a 10% deduc!on.
Significant Wri!ng Errors such as run on sentences, sentence fragments, grammar errors, etc., can result in a
deduc!on of up to 25% of your grade depending on the severity of the errors and overall effect they have on the
presenta!on and professionalism of the assignment.

Adding Ar"facts to Por#olio Pages

When adding your ar!facts to your pages, make sure to drag them over as documents so they show up fully on the
page as demonstrated in the video instead of just adding them as files with a file bu#on. The reason for this is that
the reader wants to see the ar!fact on the page without having to click a bu#on. It's a more visual and reader-friendly
approach.

Minimize File Preview

To complete this matrix, highlight how well you honestly believe you addressed the program goals/competencies in
your page narra!ves and then total your scores on the matrix to get your overall self-assessment por"olio score.

Add the Por"olio Self-Assessment Matrix to your Reflec!on page.

Por#olio Rubric

The rubric for this project is as follows:

Home page/Welcome page = 5 points

Mul!cultural, Technology, Educa!on Founda!ons, Assessment, and Educa!on Psychology pages with page narra!ves
and ar!facts = 10 points each, 5 points for ar!facts, and 5 points for the page narra!ves. If ar"facts are missing, the
page narra"ves must be wri$en excep"onally well to make up for the missing ar"facts.

Page narra!ves need to include:

The Title of the page, Program Competency, and Ar!facts List (1 point)

What you learned (2 points)

How you will use what you learned (2 points)

Praxis page = 5 points (3 points for the brief explanatory paragraph, 1 point for the Praxis scores, 1 point for the Praxis
paper.) If you passed the Praxis, just write the explanatory paragraph and your Praxis Core Exam scores will be worth
2 points).

Reflec!on page with filled in Self-Assessment matrix = 10 points (5 points for the reflec!on/5 points for the filled in
Self-Assessment matrix)

Design

Just as papers are expected to be in a style for easy readability such as APA or MLA, good design in expected in
websites. The following are elements of good design, and the points deduc!ons if they are missing from your
por"olio:

Naviga!on - Using a menu rather than using pages running across the top (-10 points)

Readibility - Using background that is too busy for text to be easily read, font is too small or too big, text color is too
light or too dark and does not contrast with the background, or headings or narra!ve text that runs off the page or
into graphics or ar!facts (-5 points for each page)

Display - Using files instead of documents (-5 for each page)

If you have any ques!ons about this assignment, please ask them on the Student Ques!ons Forum so I can answer
them there and all students can benefit from the answers.
