Reflective memo

I have learned a lot in this class. But as the semester comes to an end each of the
concepts we have learned in each of the projects have been very important. Project planning
has been very important in each of the projects as I have had to plan out what I was going to do
for each of the projects. Our professor had a plan for us as we had to have certain parts of the
project turned in. This was very smart and really helped me in my journey on doing each of
these projects. I think this is an important factor when you're having to do projects and I will
definitely be using this in my future career and in future classes.
In each of my projects, I was writing to someone. This meant I had to use language that
would make sense to the reader. I had to go into detail about what I was talking about but also
make sure to not explain too much. My writing could be read by anyone from bosses to
teenagers. And that is how I made sure to analized my projects. (Project analysis)
In each of my projects I had to do some type of research. In project one I had to do
rechearch on the parking at UNM. This was a good topic and I chose it because it is an issue
that all students and visitors of UNM face. In project 2 I had to do research on something I
already knew how to do. I had to make sure to know how to explain how to check, add, and
release pressure from a tire. I already knew how but to get every step was a bit difficult. When
you are trying to show or teach someone something new, you have to go into detail step by
step. If not they won't understand what to do. (organizational design)
With this step by step project I found it better to use visuals. I was able to show what I
was describing with pictures. Visual communication is the best way to show what you are trying
to say. Many people that are reading or seeing your work may be visual learners. Adding visuals
to your work will benefit them and make more people want to read your work.
If I had to write to a specific person, which I did in project 3. I would have to make sure to
know the genre I would need to be writing in. This is because in each and every thing you write
you are writing in a specific genre. This is called content development. Think about this when
you write an email to your boss or even just a message you use a different tone and wording
then you would if you were writing an email or sending a text to your friends. (Content
development)
This also is a factor with how you write your email. If you are talking to a friend it's ok to
use all CAPS or all lowercase. It doesn't matter if your writing has errors or anything like that.
But when you're writing in a professional sense then you must make sure to review and edit
your work because you don't want to be unprofessional as that makes you look bad.
You also have to write in a sense of organization. Content management is how you will
be able to know what to use for your work such as the site and genre.
And last but not least after all your hard work of organizing and developing your work
with visuals and making sure to revise it and organize it. This is when you present and show
others your work and what you found in your research if you researched anything. Your
presentation could be in many different forms. Such as reading off a paper, a powerpoint, and or
a video of you talking about your project.
In concussion all this will help me in my future endeavors. I am glad I was able to learn
all of this as I did not have the writing skills I now have in professional writing.
