Artifact Description: To take an image given and transform it into a grotesque creature by
preserving portions of the original while at the same time adding new paint into the graphics
using many paint features. As well add a fictional story that corresponds with new image made.
What You Learned: This project took me a while to do compared to the previous as it required
more creativity than anything. I was limited since my laptop didn’t have a paint program already
on my laptop, so I download Pixelmator Pro. Once loading the image into the program, I had to
zoom into the image since it wasn’t a high-resolution image. With zooming in the image, I had to
adjust the brushes to the correct pixel font, since the image was small. Whilst changing the colors
of the brushes, I used the tool that matched the color of the image for a more precise color to
match the tones of the skin.
ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for STUDENTS (NETS)•S Addressed:
1.6.b Students create original works or responsibly repurpose or remix digital resources into new
creations.
Application of Skills Learned for the Future: If this were applied into the classroom setting it
would be a great project for the younger students. It almost like a coloring book but online for
kids. I know for some schools they do not have good programs for editing so I wouldn’t but put
any restrictions since I know some students are rather perfectionist. I would show students
examples of course and encourage that it okay to color outside the lines since it’s not an easy
transfer skill to draw on paper to draw on computer. In an art class, you can ask students to try to
make a composite or recreation of a famous painting and ask them to do research on the artist or
painting as well.
