“Take a look” Activity

It allows it to be more captivating and persuasive into feeling sympathy and compassion for
these animals. While the pages put the details into who the animals are and things about them,
the pictures make them much more personal and heart touching to the reader as they see the
animals that are waiting to be adopted. Videos would be a good idea to help by adding more
information and making them even more personal with the reader.

Page 150 Reflection

In a recent essay I argued about how James I of England’s speech to Parliament about declaring
divine right as King led to a wedge in the government and the people which ultimately to the
English Civil War. My motivation in this writing was part of a project in my history class
arguing over the buildup the English Civil War and the effects of divine right in the early modern
period of Europe.

“Thinking about Text” Questions

1. I believe it is effective because of using analogy as a way to showcase how people are
online and how these animals represent our thoughts and actions not only online but also
in life itself.
2. Yes, he does, I believe it strengthens it as he is staying true to his beliefs and also shows
how he is highly regarded in his field because of the quality of his work and how he has
revolutionized computer science all without giving to post on social media.
3. That instead of losing free will increases it as we are having the choice of seeing what we
want to see and talk to the people we want to talk to, and this gives us more choices in
what we want online.
4. His tone is a helpful and powerful one and his stance is very credible as he himself can
prove his points and supports them with different analogies and facts. “So-called
advertisers can seize the moment when you are perfectly primed and then influence you
with messages that have worked on other people who share traits and situations with
you.”
5. I agree with his position as I realized I had so much more free time and didn’t feel as
suffocated as I thought. While there were times where I was bored I realized that I could
use all that empty time to go study, workout, or play a game. While it’s nice to use social
media it’s good to take a break every once in a while.

For capitalism one classic example of illustrating it could be middle-class and poor people
holding up a pillar that is the economy while a big and fay business tycoon sits on top counting
money and smoking a cigar.
