Slide 3 What is a Heterogeneous Mixture?

Slide 4 A mixture where you can see all the parts in it. “Hetero” means different!

Slide 5 You can see all the different colors of cereal AND the milk it is sitting in. You can separate
all the parts of it.

Slide 6 What is a Homogeneous Mixture?

Slide 7 A Mixture where you cannot see all the parts of it. “Homo” means same!

Slide 8 You cannot see all the individual ingredients in the cake batter and you CANNOT separate
them!

Slide 9 Let’s look at other examples!

Slide 10 Is this a homogeneous or a heterogeneous mixture?

Slide 11 It is homogeneous! We know because we cannot separate the milk, cream, sugar back
into their original parts!

Slide 12 Is this homogeneous or a heterogeneous mixture?

Slide 13 It's a heterogeneous mixture because we can separate all the parts!
