Twenty one samples of -60# table concentrates from different areas of Khairagarh and
Chhattisgarh basin AMD-CR, weighing about 0.5 to 100 grams were received from Dr.
Ch. Sudhakar, Incharge, Petrology Lab., Hyderabad for the separation of zircon and
further Geochronological studies. (Samples received on 24-12-2021 vide sample slip Id.
3320016-01 dated 29/11/2021 from Shri V.K. Shrivastava, SO/H, Dy. RD, CR).
Magnetic & heavy media separation studies: During the month, out of 21 samples 13
samles were subjected to ferromagnetic separation using Low Intensity Magnetic
Separation (by hand magnet), (earlier 8 samples processed during Dec 2021). The non
ferromag. products were subjected to Iso-dynamic magnetic separator at 1.7 amperage
(A) for the separation and isolation of zircon concentrate. Further, the non-magnetic
products of 1.7A were subjected to heavy media separation by methylene Iodide (sp/gr.
3.3) to obtain zircon fraction. The separation of zircon on all the 21 samples is
completed during this month. The details are presented in table below.
The above studies indicated 0.012 to 1.0 g of 1.7 Non-mag MI heavies (zircon rich
concentrate). All the separated products are being handed over to the sample originator for
further studies.
