CHAPTER 25 Questions

● How do the ideas and information in your sources address your RESEARCH
QUESTION? What answers do they give? What information do you find the most
relevant, useful, and persuasive?
The sources address my research question because they provide different perspectives
on the issue of defining the beginning of human life. They give answers from
biological, religious, and legal perspectives. Furthermore, the most useful information
is the one that analyzes the beginning of human life according to certain parameters
such as religious books or biological processes.

● How do they support your tentative THESIS? Do they suggest reasons or ways that
you should expand, qualify, or otherwise revise it?
They support my tentative thesis because they show there is an ongoing and diverse
debate on the concept of human life, especially its beginning. They definitely suggest
ways the debate could be expanded or revised because it is a very difficult topic to
provide an exact answer to.

● What viewpoints in your sources do you most agree with? disagree with? Why?
I really agree with the Jewish religion's points of view because they do not look to
punish the women who undergo an abortion. Also, as always, with the biological
perspective as I think it is truly the most useful to settle the topic for women’s health
rights.

● What conclusion can you draw from the ideas and information you’ve learned from
your sources? What discoveries have you made in studying these sources, and what
new ideas have they led you to?
The conclusion I draw is that the beginning of human life remains a highly discussed
topic without much mutual agreement between the sources. However, studying these
sources had led me to grow an interest in Jewish religion and its positions on abortion.

● Has your research changed your own views on your topic? Do any of your sources
raise questions that you can pursue further?
I would say it has opened up my mind to new perspectives but I remain with the idea
that women should not receive punishment for accessing their health rights. Some of
them raise the question of how different religions see abortion as I am not that
interested in religion myself.

● Have you encountered any ideas that you would like to build on– or challenge?
Yes, I would like to go into more detail about the biological perspective.
● From everything you’ve read, what is the significance of the topic you’re researching?
Who cares, and why does it matter?
The conversations about the beginning of human life matter because they are crucial
in granting women freedom over their reproductive rights. Like myself, many other
women are in constant look of avoiding the government’s constant restrain on our
bodies.
