Evaluation

Lesson:

“The Cold War’s effect on America and it’s influence.”

Ending the lesson week:

I will end the week with a multiple-choice quiz and a short response essay over the material

recently learned. Students will be given a test about all the material they have interacted with the past four

days. The final day of the lesson week will be for a quiz that goes over everything the class went over the

past four days. My goal is to test my students on the knowledge they have built up and worked on over

the past four days. The test will be 20 questions and a short response essay.

The short response essay will be an invaluable asset into reflecting on the effectiveness of the

lesson. Reading these will help me understand what the individual student had digested and was able to

distill from the lesson into a three-sentence response and/or summary. This will act almost as their thesis

statement on the lesson.

How do I know if my course has been successful?

I will know that my course is successful when I begin discussions with my students and they can

keep the discussion flowing. Scoring the assignments will provide a more concrete way of evaluating if
the assignment was successful. Inclusion of free writing allows for more insight into what the student has

understood from the days of assignments.

Which experts should review the materials before a course is presented to students?

A teacher peer and I should review the materials before beginning the instruction. This is to

ensure there isn’t anything looked over or ignored about the lesson. We need to keep in mind the students

and their knowledge level of the subject.

Which changes should be made to improve the course after it is presented?

If I see any problems or major hiccups with the lesson, I should make a note of it and make

decisions on how to accommodate for the next time I may teach this lesson again. I should highlight areas

of the lesson that were successful and use aspects of it to improve the successfulness of the areas that

were not as successful. Taking inventory of the lesson’s strengths and weaknesses will allow me to

further expand on upcoming lessons and revise this lesson.
