1. What aspect of making music excites you the most right now?

I am intrigued by all aspect of music, especially the process of making records

and nurturing the potential in fresh talent. However, what excites me the most
right now is the beats selection process and coming up with a hook base on what
I think the beat is inspiring me to write.

2. Aspect of making music gets you the most discouraged?
I am somewhat discouraged when it comes to writing the verses lol, I am not a
freestyler and I like my music to make complete sense throughout the entire
track. Writing a perfect verse always got me like damn …. And I might take hours
or even days to complete it, but I feel I am improving with experience through.

3. What are you up to right now, music-wise? (Current or upcoming
recordings, tours, extravaganzas, experiments, top-secret projects,
etc).

I am a person that got my hands tied up all over this music thing, I am
currently a part of a group called ‘TEAM JAMAICA,’ which should be debuting
soon. This group consists of some of the Bronx’s finest new young talents
who all have Jamaican roots. Team Jamaica is produced by Mario of Sir.
Hypes Records and Real Deal Radio 94.1FM in the Bronx.
The members are (D-teck), Janrah (our first lady), Lasace, Image kid and
Guess.
I am also responsible for the runnings of the Csmooth Productions
Recording Studio in the Bronx, owned by Carlton (Csmooth) Bryan.
I was recently featured on the returning Canadian Rapper (Rick Threat)
latest album the ‘Loveolution” on a track called “IS THERE A SPACE
RESERVED FOR ME INSIDE OF HEAVEN” which is actually the most popular
from the album on iTunes the last time I checked.
I also have been performing at various clubs in New York City to promote
the album.
The promotion aspect of music is also one of my greatest interests. My
latest major project being the new & hottest Party track coming out of Jamaica
called MyCUPP by a very good friend of mind Richieloops of Scikron/Bigyard
entertainment. Richieloops played a very big part in more than 70% of my
musical journey.
I am also being featured on Sid Vicious ‘The take Over Mixtape’ hosted
and produced by Dj. Don Ricky from Utah. You got to look out for that, it’s going
to be so sick or as Richieloops would say “MADD”.
I have worked on a few projects with NYC’s Hottest rising Producer
‘Tiestick (I DID THA BEAT)’ and will continue to work with him as he is becoming
more and more relevant to the music industry on all levels.
I am also being featured on some sick tracks coming out soon on Enza of
Dj. FlipCyide INC/ G-unit South Mixtape hosted by Dj. FlipCyide. Look out for that
too because it’s going to be Blazing Hot!!!!!!!!.

4. The most unusual place you've ever played a show or made a
recording? How did the qualities of that place affect the
show/recording?

The most unusual place I have performed is at a Taylor Hall concert at the
University of the West Indies, Mona. I was performing with Yuri, Tommy T and
my brother from another mother Cryptic.
During my section of the performance the crowd was just staring at me
and I felt awkward as there was minimal feedback from the crowd. However
when I was finished some of the audience members told me that they thought I
was the groups Body guard and that’s why they were shocked when I started to
rap.
In terms of how the quality of the settings affects the show, the crowd was
preconditioned for  a dancehall vibe so they weren’t ready or as excited for a HIP
HOP show.
The most unusual place I have recorded was in my dorm room at UWI, Mona,
where I had set up  a simple recording studio using Adobe Audition. I was a bit
familiar with the functions from our previous INDIE Studio setup at GALARUSH
RECORDS.
I played around recording myself, Cigar who is a DJ at most of the parties
held at the UWI student union and TNEZ who is now singed to Chimney Records
and has made his name as one of the best sing jays in Jamaica right now.
Well playing around with the simple studio setup let me realized there is so
much more to music than just going in the booth and laying down the tracks as
none of the tracks were good enough to be played on a bigger set, they were
more like ringtone quality lol.
5. In what ways does the place where you live (or places where you
have lived), affect the music you create, or your taste in music?
Honestly I didn’t like music as a kid, it was one day in the summer of 1996
when my friend Biggie Jacubz introduced me to a song that Puff Daddy and Faith
Evans did “I’ll Be Missing you” tribute to The Notorious B.I.G a.k.a. – who was
also known for being Jay’s idol at the time. I started to listen to Hip Hop and I
would record my favorite songs off cable with my VCR. The songs I listened to
the most at the time were DMX’s “What they Want From Us” feat Sisqo, Jay Z
“Big Pimpin” Feat. Bun B, Cash Money’s “BLING BLING!!!!!” and Nas and Mobb
Deep’s “It’s Mine” among others. It’s while listening to these track on a daily basis
I realized how much I love Hip Hop but it wasn’t until the rise of 50Cent and the
G-unit I decided that I wanted to be a hip hop artist.
I later wrote my first Hip Hop track “Can’t Stop!! Won’t Stop!!” off a concept
inspired by Dakrome who is also a very good Hip Hop artist, song writer and
producer.
I never got the chance to record that song until I was introduced to Spida
of the Refugee Camp who had a top of the line recording studio. Spida was also
featured on the track and I will be working with him in feature.

6. When was the last time you wrote a song? What can you tell us about it?
Today was the last time I wrote a song and I didn’t want to say this but it
was inspired by a girl that I admire a lot.

7. As you create more music, do you find yourself getting more or less
interested in seeking out and listening to new music made by other
people...and why do you think that is?

Well as I create more music I honestly find myself listening to less industry
music, I mostly listen to my own music, friends or people I know personally and
music I had a say or took part in the making process.
However I still stay up to date with what’s going on in the music industry. As I
said to Richieloops and T-NEZ a few weeks ago over the phone, “Everyone is
already up there; it’s our turn; so my focus is on our own music to find ways of
perfecting our craft.”

8.Lately what musical periods or styles do you find yourself most

drawn to as a listener? (Old or new music? Music like yours or
different from yours?)

Well honestly I am a lover of music and I review a lot of people music

before they are even released, and these music ranges across all genres but the
type I find myself more drawn to would be Hip Hop and RnB or music more like
my own music.
9. What's the saddest song you've ever heard?

What a question lol , well I got to say Akon’s “Saddest Song” is the
saddest song I have ever heard. It crazily sad and depressing lol

10. Do you believe that online marketing and free digital music
distribution has changed the music industry. If so, do you feel that it
will have a lasting effect on the major record label sales?

Yes it has change the music industry and will forever have a lasting effect
on the major record ladle’s sales as free digital music distribution enables anyone
to market and distribute their music independently which cause the music
industry to be congested with independent artist trying to make it the music
industry.
In terms of its lasting effect on major record labels, well with the level of
piracy and no sign of it slowing down, major record labels are going to feel it in
their pockets because as technology advances, so does the methods used to
pirate digital music. Record sales are going to go down even more because of
torrent and P2p file sharing programs.
