Project Title
First Impressions
Before I came on the film course I had worked with black and white photography and film photography. I
have also edited other people’s footage and making new videos. One of the first things I had to learn was
how to use the camera to frame moving images. One of my first piece in which the cinematography was
the best was the Stalker. This was also successful through post-production because I had multiple
comments and reviews from an audience saying they enjoyed the piece. I am interested in working more
with lighting and looking at moving images in black and white. So far this year I have looked at mise-en-
scene and this project is to expand and show more detailed knowledge of how to achieve this and the
power it can entail.
I aim to create a film that will show the acceptance of the depressive disorder and the process in which
recovery takes place. The techniques I hope to explore is mise-en-scene and creating a piece in which
emotions are played with. The medium I hope to explore further is black and white and dealing with the
complications that come with it. I have done in depth research into adverts and short films that cover
harmful and complicated topics. If successful I believe this will reach out and hit others and allow them to
come forward and create their version of an acceptance piece in whatever media they could, either a video,
photo, the use of social media etc.
I will reflect by doing a weekly blog in which I will write up any updates or changes that will happen in
pre-production, production and postproduction. Refer to Evaluation and reflection page on the website.
