the subtitle is "The Story of Women in the 1950s". Maybe it's a true story. The book is written by
Virginia Nicholson. At the bottom of the image we see a beautiful woman with perfect lipstick, perfect
hair and a perfect body. She is holding a feather duster, and she looks extremely happy to be doing the
housework. Her clothes are very clean and crisp.

In the book review, we saw that in the 1950s women were responsible for making meals for the family,
raising the children, and keeping the house clean, while men were responsible for working and making
important decisions.

They got the vote in 1929, but in the 1950s only 1.2 percent of women went to university. They were
not really equal.
