You're Especially Busy

How to Get out of Mediocrity and Reach the Top

We all desire to live wealthy and prosperously, without any limits and
boundaries. Thus, we need to face the challenges that may arise, leave our
comfort zone behind, and give all it takes to attain that dream existence so
few of us would ever be able to experience.

But the sad truth is that not everyone is capable of reaching this goal. Most
individuals (almost 95 percent) don’t even realize they have it all to unleash
their full potential and achieve everything they desire. Their mindset is
tuned to small, easy-to-attain aims and constant regrets. They refuse to
see the big picture of the opportunities around them.

The situation is really disturbing. The working path of most individuals will
never lead them to a wealthy life, only a few will have financial stability. The
majority will always be working just to deal with their basic needs or, in
other words, just because they will need to do so to make ends meet. One
shudders to think how many people will end in poverty and total
dependence on their family, friends, and government.

Only 5% of us will be able to create a life of financial freedom, while the

remaining 95% won’t be able to succeed financially. So, what should we do
not to become part of the second group? The author gives us three easy
yet genius strategies to help move above mediocrity and reach the top 5%.

Step #1: Recognize the 95 Percent Reality Check

95% of our population will never be able to build and live the life they truly
desire. We must acknowledge and accept this fact. So, obviously, if we do
not commit to thinking and behaving differently than most people do, we
will be doomed to a life of mediocrity, struggle, failure, and regret.
Step #2: Identify the Causes of Mediocrity

After acknowledging that 95% of people are settling for far less than they

are capable of, struggling in almost every area of life, and not experiencing

the levels of success, happiness, and freedom that they actually seek, the

next crucial step we should take is to comprehend the reasons of such

realities. To avoid this happening to you, you must know your enemy. So do

your best to understand what leads the ordinary individual to live a life of

mediocrity.

If 95% of our society isn't living the life they want, we need to find out what

they did wrong or didn't do well enough so that we don't have to settle with

mediocrity.

2. How to Detect & Fight Mediocrity

Rearview Mirror Syndrome (RMS), as stated by the author, is one of the

most damaging causes of mediocrity in life. Our subconscious has a self-

limiting rearview mirror in which we constantly replay and reproduce our

history. The problem is that we tend to perceive ourselves based on our

past constraints. We tend to neglect the present context and it is

detrimental to our actual potential.

As a consequence, we tend to overthink, exaggerate, and filter every

decision we make through the prism of our prior experiences. Although

everyone wants to make tomorrow better than yesterday, sometimes we

are unable to perceive things as they are and see them as they were in the

past.
Purposelessness

If you ask the ordinary individual what their life mission is, you will most
likely receive a weird look or a remark like "Gee, I dunno." What if somebody
asks you this question? Would you be able to answer with confidence and
preciseness? The average person can't articulate their life purpose - the
compelling "why" that drives them to get up every day and do whatever it
takes to fulfill their life's mission.

Lack of purpose is what defines 95 percent of society. The problem is the

average person lives day by day, with no bigger goal. They simply exist and
are only worried to survive the next day, next week, next month. Most
people are only concerned with taking the path of least resistance and
savoring short-term, transitory pleasures along the way. They are prone to
avoiding any challenge, adversity, or struggle that may motivate and give
them a chance to grow and reach the top 5%.

Separated Occurrences

Separated occurrences are one of the most common, although not-so-

obvious, causes of mediocrity. We do this when we mistakenly believe that
every decision we make and action we do just affects the current situation
or moment. This often happens when we are skipping workouts,
procrastinating on an assignment, or eating fast food. We make excuses
and promise ourselves to have a “do-over” tomorrow. But such situations
usually repeat and the “do-over” time may not come. This way, the small
separated actions result in big issues and habit ruining. That’s because it’s
wrong to beleive that skipping one workout would do no harm.
Every single action and even thought determine who we are and who we
will become. Each decision we make forms a big picture of our lives.

The Lack of Accountability

There’s a strong connection between success and responsibility. Almost all

highly successful people place high importance on accountability. It gives
people the power they need to take action and achieve results even when
they don't feel like it.

Accountability is the act of being held accountable to someone else for

action or consequence.

Responsibility is pivotal for almost all aspects of your life. The majority of
great results and achievements in your life from birth to the age of
eighteen happened due to the responsibility of your parents, teachers, and
bosses, etc. We would have been illiterate, starved, sleep-deprived,
disgusting little kids without the accountability of our parents and tutors.
Life in society is possible thanks to the notion of responsibility.

A Mediocre Influence Circle

We are the average of the five individuals we spend the most time with. It
means that who you spend your time with may be the single most
important determinant of who you become and your quality of life. If you
surround yourself with weak-minded individuals, you will surely become
one of them. So spend more time with happy, successful achievers. You'll
start to look more and more like them soon.
Lack of personal growth

Your levels of success will rarely exceed your levels of personal

development.

Success is something we attract by who we become.”

In other words, your degree of success – in all aspects of your life — will

seldom surpass, and will typically mirror, your degree of personal growth

(i.e., your knowledge, skills, beliefs, habits, and so on).

Step #3: Make a Line on the Sand

Choose what you are going to start doing differently starting today. Not

today, not tomorrow, not next week, and not next month. You must decide

now that you are willing to make the necessary changes to ensure that you

will live the life you truly desire. Are you prepared to make that pledge and

work hard? The day you declare that you will no longer accept mediocrity,

your entire life changes.

3. You Snooze, You Lose

Why did you get out of bed so early this morning? Consider this for a

moment... Why do you get up so early most mornings? Why are you getting

out of your warm, comfortable bed? Is it because it's something you'd want

to do? Or do you put off getting up until it's really necessary?

If you're like most people, you wake up to the constant blaring of an alarm

clock and drag yourself out of bed because you have to go and live your life.

But let’s face it - if you had a choice, you would remain sleeping for longer.
Because of that, you revolt instinctively. You click the snooze button and
postpone the inevitable process of waking up. But doing it is detrimental
and ignorant. Our resistance sends a message to the world that we'd
rather stay in asleep than fully awake to live and change our lives.

The classic adage, "You Snooze, You Lose," may have a deeper significance
than we imagined. Consider that when you postpone getting up until you
have to, you are essentially opposing your life and depriving yourself of lots
of amazing things.

You are resisting your day, your life, and your capacity to get up and build
the life you desire every time you hit the snooze button.

When you start your day with reluctance, consider the type of negative
energy that surrounds you. It's almost as if you're saying, "I don't want to
live my life, at least not fully."

How to Boost Your Wake-Up-Motivation-Level (WUML)

When the alarm clock goes off each morning, most of us are awakened
from a deep sleep. Leaving the coziness of our mattresses is the most
unappealing option. If you were to rate your level of motivation as it
pertained to waking up — a.k.a. your Wake Up Motivation Level (WUML) — at
the moment the alarm clock starts incessantly beeping, on a scale of 1-10
(“10” being ready to wake up and embrace the day, and “1” meaning you
want nothing more then to go back to sleep), most of us would probably
rate our WUML close to a one or a two. When you're half asleep, it's normal
to want to push the snooze button and continue sleeping.
Here are the author's five simple, snooze-proof methods for getting out of
bed in the morning easier than ever.

Step #1: Before Heading to Sleep, Set Your Goals

The first trick to getting out of bed easier is to remember that your first
thought in the morning is generally the last idea you had before going to
bed. For example, we've all experienced evenings when we couldn't sleep
because we were so thrilled to get up the next morning. Either it was
Christmas Eve, the night preceding your birthday, your first day of school,
starting a new job, or going on holiday, as soon as the alarm clock went off,
you jumped out of bed, eager to face the day. The key is to make a
conscious decision every night to purposefully and methodically build
positive excitement for the following morning.

Step #2: Your Alarm Clock Should Be Far from Your Bed

Change the location of your alarm clock - it should be as far away from your
bed as possible. This way, you’ll have to get up and move to turn it off.
Movement generates energy, so getting up and out of bed naturally helps
you wake up and start the day.

Step #3: Brush Your Teeth

This simple action is giving your body and mind time to wake up smoothly.
So, when you've turned off your alarm clock, walk straight to the bathroom
sink to brush your teeth and splash some warm (or cold) water on your
face. This easy practice will boost your waking motivation from WUML-2 to
WUML-3 or WUML-4.

Step #4: Drink a Glass of Water

It is critical to hydrating oneself first thing in the morning. You'll be

somewhat dehydrated after 6-8 hours without a drink.
Dehydration increases weariness.

When individuals are fatigued at any time of day, what they truly need is
more water, not more sleep.

Step #5: Put on Your Workout Attire

Last but not least, get dressed in your workout clothes so you can leave
your bedroom and begin your Miracle Morning right away.

Some individuals prefer to begin their day by hopping in the shower, but
the author is sure that the morning shower should be earned by working up
a sweat first.

Morning exercise is critical for optimizing your potential because it

prepares you mentally, physically, and emotionally for the day ahead.

4. The Life S.A.V.E.R.S.

To keep your Level-10 life without regret, unfulfilled potential, and

mediocrity you must prioritize and devote time to your personal growth
daily. The Miracle Morning Life S.A.V.E.R.S. is a collection of six easy, life-
enhancing, transforming routines that each enhance one or more of the
physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual parts of your life, allowing you to
get everything you want in life.

You can learn more in an hour of silence than you can in a year from

books. ~ Matthew Kelly

5. S Is for Silence

The letter S stands for Silence.

The soul discovers the road when it is in a state of silence.”

We're generally rushing about trying to prepare for the day, and our brains
are always racing with thoughts about what we need to do, where we need
to go, who we need to see, what we forgot to do, how late we're, or a recent
disagreement with our significant other or family member.

Silence is one of the most crucial strategies to relieve stress quickly while
boosting self-awareness and acquiring the clarity we need to stay focused
on our objectives and what matters most in our lives every day. Here are
some of the author's favorite activities he uses during his time of stillness:
Meditation
Prayer
Reflection
Deep Breathing
Gratitude.

6. A Is for Affirmations

Affirmations serve as an extremely powerful tool for transforming you into

a person you aspire to become. They help you set and achieve your goals
easier. Affirmations give you the strenth you need to create and then
cultivate the mentality (thoughts, beliefs, and attention) to advance in any
aspect of your life.
Talking to oneself isn't just for crazy people, believe it or not. Everyone of us
has an internal conversation that goes practically constantly in our
thoughts. The majority of it is unconscious as we do not deliberately pick
the discussion. Instead, we relive our prior experiences, both good and
negative, over and over. It is a natural and critical process each of us should
embrace, understand, and master. However, very few individuals
deliberately choose to think good, proactive ideas that will bring value to
their lives.

You will be a failure until you impress the subconscious with the conviction

you are a success. This is done by making an affirmation, which clicks. ~

Florence Scovel Shinn

Here are some easy steps to help you make your first affirmation

Step 1: Write What You Really Want

Written affirmations are intended to train your mind with the ideas,
attitudes, and behaviors/habits that are necessary for attracting,
producing, and maintaining your highest levels of success in all areas of
your life. Remember that your affirmation should begin with a detailed
description of how you envision your ideal life scenario for each area. You
may categorize your affirmations according to the spheres you would love
to improve the most, such as health/fitness, mindset, emotions, finances,
relationships, spirituality, and so on. Begin by putting out what you truly
desire – your ideal vision for yourself and your life.
Step 2: Why You Want It

Wisdom begins with whys. We all want to live a life full of happiness, health,
and prosperity, but wishful thinking is rarely an effective strategy for
reaching these objectives.
Those who resist the temptations of mediocrity and achieve what they
desire in life have a powerful why that drives them. They have identified
their life goal that is more powerful than all the innumerable hurdles and
obstacles. Such people wake up each day to strive towards their purpose.

When you are committed to a life purpose that is bigger than your
problems, your problems become relatively insignificant and you will
overcome them with ease.”

Step 3: Who You Need to Be

This is the point when the rubber hits the road. To put it another way, your
life will be better only if you improve. Only after you've spent many hours
enhancing yourself will the world around you improve. Get clear on who you
need to be in order to advance your life, career, health, marriage, and so on.

7. V Is for Visualization

Visualization, also known as creative visualization or mental exercise, is the

technique of using your imagination to create mental representations of
specific acts and events in your life in order to generate positive outcomes
in your surroundings. Often used by athletes to improve their performance,
this method allows you to envision what exactly you want to attain and
then mentally rehearse what you'll need to do to reach it.

Ordinary people believe only in the possible. Extraordinary people visualize

not what is possible or probable, but rather what is impossible. And by
visualizing the impossible, they begin to see it as possible. ~ Cherie Carter-
Scott
Simple steps for miracle morning visualization are

Step 1: Get Ready

It’s a good idea to listen to some instrumental music on the background

during your visualization process. Classical or baroque music works great

(try Bach, for instance). Sit up tall and in a comfortable stance. This may be

done on a chair, couch, or the floor, for example. Inhale deeply. Close your

eyes and clear your thoughts before beginning to visualize.

Step 2: Visualize Your Desires

Visualize your primary objectives, deepest ambitions, and most thrilling,

would-totally-change-my-life-if-I-accomplished-them fantasies. Every

aspect of your vision should be seen, felt, heard, touched, tasted, and

smelled. The more focused your vision is, the more likely you are to take the

necessary measures to fulfill it.

Step 3: Visualize Who You Need to Be & What You Need to Do

Start visualizing yourself living in total conformity with the person you need

to be in order to achieve your objective once you've formed a clear mental

image of what you desire. Imagine yourself doing the fruitful acts you'll

need to perform each day (exercising, learning, working, writing, making

calls, sending emails, etc.) and make sure you love the process.

8. E Is for Exercise

Make morning exercise an essential part of your daily routine. Even a few

minutes of exercise in the morning raises your energy, improves your

health, promotes your self-confidence and emotional well-being. It allows

you to think better and stay focused longer.

Yoga is a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual science. It can be

practiced in a variety of ways.

practiced in a variety of ways.

Some activities may aid you in every element of your life, whether it is
sitting in silent meditation, breathing to expand your lung capacity, or back
bending to open your heart. The goal is to learn which methods to employ
when seeking treatment and how to use them to reclaim your
equilibrium. A well-rounded yoga practice can help you in a number of
ways. It has the power to restore equilibrium and to move trapped or
obstructed energy through your body, allowing fresh fluid movement,
blood flow, and energy to circulate.

Listen to your body and experiment with different sequences when you're
ready.

Obviously, if you want to be healthy and energetic, you must exercise

regularly. But it's all too simple to come up with reasons why we don't
exercise. Two of the most common are "I just don't have time" and "I'm
simply too weary." Isn't it true that the more creative you are, the more
excuses you can come up with? That is the magic of including exercise
into your Miracle Morning - it occurs before your day tires you out and
before you have a full day to come up with fresh reasons for avoiding
exercise.

9. R Is for Reading

Reading is the fastest way to alter any aspect of your life. It provides you
with the information, ideas, and tactics to attain Level-10 success in any
sphere. The goal is to learn from the professionals - those who have
previously accomplished what you wish to accomplish. Don't try to
reinvent the wheel. There are virtually no limits to the amount of
information you may gain by everyday reading.
If you’d love to achieve financial freedom and become a multi-millionaire,
there are several books produced by folks who have reached the peak of
financial success that will educate you on how. Here are some of the
author's personal favorites:
Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
The Millionaire Fastlane by MJ DeMarco
Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker
Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey

If you want to have outstanding and passionate relationship, here are some
of the author's suggestions for you:
The Five Love Languages by Gary D. Chapman
The Soulmate Experience by Jo Dunn
The Seven Principles For Making a Marriage Work by John M. Gottman
and Nan Silver

How much should you read? Well, the author recommends reading at least
10 pages per day. It’s ok to start with 5, if you read slowly or don't like
reading yet.

Reading 10 pages each day will not break you. It will make you.

Consider it this way. If you calculate it, reading only 10 pages each day is
3,650 pages each year, which translates to almost eighteen 200-page
personal development/self-improvement books! Do you believe that if you
read 18 personal development books over the next 12 months, you will be
more informed, capable, and confident – a new and improved you?

Absolutely!
10. S is for Scribing

Scribing is the last activity in the Life S.A.V.E.R.S. and is just another term
for writing. Journaling is the author's favorite type of scribing, which he
does for 5-10 minutes throughout the Miracle Morning. You gain critical
insights that you would not have seen otherwise by getting your thoughts
out of your head and onto paper. The Miracle Morning scribing component
allows you to record your insights, thoughts, breakthroughs, realizations,
achievements, and lessons learned, as well as any areas of potential,
personal growth, or development.

Every day, writing in a diary in a disciplined, planned manner (more on that

in a minute) helps you focus your attention on what you've accomplished,
what you're grateful for, and what you're committed to doing better the
next day. This way you can appreciate each day of your journey more, feel
good about whatever forward progress you made, and use a higher level of
clarity to speed up your outcomes.

Here are three easy steps to getting started with journaling or improving
your existing journaling habit.

Choose a Format. You must decide whether to use a traditional,

physical lined journal or a digital notebook (such as on your computer or
in an app for your phone or tablet). Each has both advantages and
disadvantages, but it all comes down to personal preference. Do you
like to handwrite or type your daily notebook entries?
Get a Journal. If you prefer to write it by hand, consider investing in a
diary that is not only lined but also dated, and has enough space to
write for the entire year. Importantly, you should choose a notebook
that is pleasant to look at.
There are several options available if you wish to keep a digital journal. The
author’s favorite journaling app is a famous Five-Minute Journal. This app
simplifies your journaling process by giving you prompts, such as “I am
grateful for…” and “What would make today great?” It literally takes five
minutes or less and includes an “Evening” option, which allows you to
review your day and even upload photos to create visual memories
Decide What to Write. There are several aspects of your life about
which you might want to write, as well as various types of journals.
Gratitude diaries, dream journals, food journals, fitness journals, and so
on. You can write about your goals, aspirations, objectives,
responsibilities, lessons learned, and every other significant things.

11. The 6-minute Miracle Morning for Those Days When You're
Especially Busy

Minute One

Imagine waking up in the morning with a huge yawn, a stretch, and a grin
on your face. Rather than rushing into your frantic day, agitated and
frustrated, you spend the first minute sitting calmly, in deliberate Silence.
You sit quietly and peacefully, breathing deeply and gently. Perhaps you
say a thankfulness prayer to enjoy the present or a prayer for guidance on
your trip. Perhaps you may try your first minute of meditation. When you sit
silently, you are completely present in the here and now. You relax your
body and mind, allowing all of your stress to flow away. You gain a greater
feeling of tranquility, purpose, and direction.

Minute Two

Perhaps you offer a prayer of thanksgiving to appreciate the current

moment or a prayer for direction on your journey. You may attempt your
first minute of meditation. When you sit in silence, you are entirely present
in the current moment. You unwind your body and mind, letting all of your
tension go. You obtain a better sense of calm, purpose, and direction.
Reading over the affirmations of how capable you give you a sense of
assurance. Examining your commitments, purpose, and objectives re-
energizes you to take the activities required to live the life you genuinely
want, deserve, and now know is achievable for you.

Minute Three

You envision by closing your eyes or looking at your vision board. Your
Visualization might incorporate how you will look and feel when you
achieve your objectives. You see the day going flawlessly, seeing yourself
enjoying your work, smiling and joking with your family or significant other,
and simply completing all of your goals for the day. You see how it will
appear, you feel how it will feel, and you sense the satisfaction of what you
will make.

Minute Four

You spend one minute writing down some of the things you're grateful for,
what you're proud of, and the outcomes you're dedicated to achieving that
day. By doing so, you establish an empowered, inspired, and confident
frame of mind for yourself.

Minute Five

Then you take your self-help book and read a page or two for one magical
minute. You discover a new concept that you may implement into your day
to improve your outcomes at work or in your relationships. You learn
something new that will help you think and feel better – and hence live
better.

Minute Six

Finally, you get up and move your body for 60 seconds in the last minute.
Maybe you run in place for a minute, or maybe you perform jumping jacks
for a minute. You may perform push-ups or sit-ups. The goal is that you're
raising your heart rate, creating energy, and improving your capacity to
stay awake and concentrated. How would you feel if that was how you
spent the first six minutes of your day? What changes would you make to

improve the quality of your day — of your life? The author does not

recommend that you restrict your Miracle Morning to six minutes every day,

but on days when you are short on time, the 6-minute Miracle Morning

presents a great technique for speeding your personal growth.

Conclusion

Good things take time. And so does the self-improvement. Don't worry if

you're not sure if you'll be able to complete Miracle Morning — it's

completely normal to doubt. Especially if getting out of bed in the morning

has been difficult for you in the past. It's not only ok to feel reluctant or

nervous, but it's also an indication that you're ready to commit. Otherwise,

you wouldn't feel worried. Start this awesome self-transformation journey

and you’ll reap the rewards soon.

Practice: A brief rundown of the 5-step snooze-proof-get-up

strategy to help you wake up and stay awake:

1. Set your goals before going to bed. Remember that your first

thought in the morning is generally the last one you had

before going to falling asleep, so build true enthusiasm for the

following morning every night before going to bed.

2. Keep your alarm clock on the opposite side of the room.

3. Clean your teeth.

4. Drink a glass of water. Hydration gives you energy.

5. Wear your workout attire. You have to earn your morning

shower by training.
