1. Target Olympic podium Scheme - identify + promote players- probality to win medals

(Paris) ; committee constituted - Chairperson - Abhinav Bindra. Members - Karnam

2. PYKKA :- 2008-09 by central govt. To prepare sports ground on Panchayt and block
level in next 10 years. But in April 2014 this was renamed as Rajiv Ghadhi khel Abhiyan
(RGKA)
3. Khelo India Programme:- - integrated program to develop sports sector to revive the
sports culture in India at the grass root level by building a strong framework for all sports.
Three schemes merged: Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan + Urban Sports infrastructure
Scheme + National sports talent search scheme.
4. Functions of RSSC :- operates various stadiums in state + maintenance; development
of sports infrastructure. 1st institute in India to start organizing training camps. To nurture
the tribal talent - organizes residential sports training camps every year in
Dungarpur; promote talent of women players this council organises various
competitions at panchayat tehsil, district and state level every year.
5. Paralympic: started from 1948 with efforts of Sir ludwig guttmann It was known as
“International Wheelchair Games” aslo called “stoke mandeville games”. Officially 1st
“Paraolympic games were held in 1960 in Rome”; Logo – 3 Agitos (Color – Red- Blue-
Green); Motto – Spirit in Motion Held by in every 4 years – International Paraolympic
Commitiees; Present Name – Paraolympic Korea (Seol - 1988).
6. Sports Injury rehabilitation is a safe, therapeutic approach that helps athletes
effectively treat pain and achieve optimal performance with targeted exercises to help
player return to pre injury function;Principles of Rehabilitation ATC IS IT A – Avoid
aggravation T- Timing C - Compliance I - Individualization S - Specific sequencing I -
Intensity T - Total patient.
7. Asian Games → Asiad; First event → 1951 (New Delhi) India has hosted twice (1951,
1982), 18 Asian Games organized so far → 18th Games in 2018 at Jakarta (Indonesia)

in 1942 and 1946); Other names - British empire games (renamed Commonwealth in
1978) Started with the efforts of British officer Reverend Ashley Motto :- Humanity,
Equality, Destiny [2018 - Gold coast (Aus)] 2022- England
India's participation; First participated in 1934. Rashid Anwar - 74kg Class Wrestling -
Bronze → First Medal Leela Ram (1958, Commonwealth) - Wrestling - First Gold
10. TOTAPS is used in the assessment of injuries to determine the nature and extent of the
injury and whether the athlete can continue to play. Given any scenario in sport where an
injury occurs the steps of First Aid should be followed, BEFORE a specific injury is
assessed.
11. The first steps after an injury occurs, and before assessment of injuries can happen, is
DRSABCD
a. Danger – check for danger to self, others and the casualty. Depending on the
sport play may need to be stopped and people removed before the casualty can
be assessed.
b. Response – check for a response from the casualty. Are they conscious etc
should be checked before assessment of injuries.
c. Send – if the casualty requires medical attention an ambulance should be called
at this point.
d. Airway -if the casualty is unconscious their airway should be cleared and
maintained for ease of breathing.
e. Breathing – check that the casualty is breathing.
f. CPR – if the casualty is not breathing CPR is administered.
g. Defibrillation – a defibrillator should be used as soon as possible if CPR is
required.

12. Why do sports injuries occur? includes careless attitude of the player towards fitness
and training. important factors
a. poor equipment, surface and floor.
b. lacking in the knowledge of rules of the game.
c. lack of technical and tactical knowledge.
d. lack of fitness and conditioning.
e. not observing safety rules while playing technically difficult sports like
gymnastics, diving, judo and wrestling, etc
f. lifting of heavy weights without helpers may lead to accident and cause severe
injury.
13. Doping is defined by the International Olympics Committee (IOC) as, ‘the use of any
method or substance that might harm the athlete, in a quest to gain an unfair advantage,
over his or her fellow competitors’. Hence, training at altitude to increase the blood’s
ability to carry oxygen is allowed, but the use of drugs, to achieve the same result is
considered unethical and prohibited by the authorities.

In competitive sports, doping refers to the use of banned performance-enhancing


drugs by competitors, where the term doping is widely used by organisations that
regulate sporting competitions. The use of drugs to enhance performance is considered
unethical by most international sports organisations, including the International Olympic
Committee
The two principal categories of performance-enhancing substances considered as the
main source are: 1. Dietary supplements 2. Injectable supplements—Hormones and
Drugs
