-Paper
-Crayons
-Markers
-Pencils
4. Teaching:
A. Plan for reading the book
Today we will be reading how to catch a leprechaun. It’s a story about St. Patrick’s Day. St
Patrick’s Day is a holiday that comes from Ireland. Ireland is a country that celebrates St.
Patrick’s Day. They love to talk about Leprechauns, Gold at the end of the rainbows and you get
lucky when you find a Four-Leaf Clover.
-Read Story
-How do you think children felt when leprechaun was too fast, and they were unable to catch the
Leprechaun?
-What are some of the ways the children tried to trap the Leprechaun?
-Pass out paper, Pencils, Crayons, Markers and Ask the students to draw a picture of what their
trap would look like to catch the leprechaun.
-Allow children 20 minutes to draw what their trap would look like.
5. Closure:
-Have children show their drawings of their Trap and explain their ideas.
-Ask students what they learned about the traps in the story did they work?
-Ask the children what you think will happen next year on St. Patrick’s Day?
-Give Feedback
-Tomorrow we will talk about how we can make a trap we drew to catch the Leprechaun and
what material we will need to make the trap.
