2 Introduction
2.1 Document purpose
The purpose of this document is to provide the information needed for testing Continental
In-Cylinder Pressure Sensor (ICPS) on Renault K9K Gen8 engine.

3 Delivered Sensors information

4.2 Wiring & Ground Connection

In case of use of counter connector (ref. 806-379-...), indications are as below. Ground
link must be guaranteed between connector GND wire and the Engine Cylinder Head.

4.3 Typical Power Supply Voltage(Vs)

ICPS output is ratiometric to Vs.
The quality of Vs will directly impact the quality of ICPS output. Stable Supply Voltage should be
insured, + 5V ± 5%.

4.4 Current Consumption

Less than 10mA

4.5 Mounting Instructions

ICPS must be mounted with a specific tool (see figure below) deep enough to be in contact with
the entire hexagon area of the sensor.

Cylinder head interface thread and taper seal have to be clean (no oil and dust) and respect
standard 34 - 07 – 025/--H with level A (G-H9/I-X5)

Before screwing the sensor, sensor and engine must be at room temperature.
Specific Coating Dow Corning D96 is applied on thread.

Mounting recommendations:
Ambient Sensor on Ambient engine (20°C)

Axial force Equivalent Torque(*)

3100N +/-15% To be defined by Renault
(*)For information, Continental has estimated equivalent torques on internal test bench in the cases below :
WARNING: Risk of sensor damage if the torque is not adapted to the following cases.

Case 1 : New coated sensor mounted on new cylinder head, estimated torque: 6.8 N.m

Case 2 : Coated sensor previously mounted once on cylinder head used previously with coated sensor,
estimated torque : 7.6 N.m

Warning: sensor free fall is not guaranteed. Don’t use sensor after free fall.

Dynamometric key must be used with +/- 4%
accuracy. (eg. Facom R306 25D or equivalent)
Key / sensor interface have to be designed like on the
