Poetry- An African Thunderstorm by David Rubadiri

Answer the following questions in complete sentences.

1. State two themes that are found in the poem, “An African Thunderstorm”. Give one

example per theme to support your answer. 

2. Identify all the figures of speech in the poem and give an example of each stating what

line it can be found in as well.

3. The poet uses several different images to describe the thunderstorm. Focus on these

images and discuss the specific effects the poet creates with each one.

4. What is the effect of the repetition of  “The Wind.../… trees bend to let it pass’ at the end

of stanza 1 (lines 14-15) and in stanza 2 (lines 25-26)?

5. In no more than four sentences, state what is happening in the poem. This must include

both interpretations.
