MORPHOLOGY of ROOT

Primary root :
Radicle of embryo grows and forms this root .
Secondary root :
Primary root branches forms this root .
Tertiary root :
Branching from the secondary root

Tap Root :
The primary root continues to grow as tap root and it grows as long as the plant
lives .
Tap root tubers :
Conical root tubers , fusiform root tubers , napiform root tubers.

Fibrous Root :
The primary root stops growth, and form the lowermost node of the stem or
hypocotyl numerous roots arise and are extra - embryonic .
Adventitious Root :

They develop from organs of shoot system .


Adventitious root tubers :
Fascicled - Tuberous roots arise in cluster
(eg): Dahlia
Moniliform roots- They swell at intervals
(eg): Asparagus
