Rule 1: Adjectives with 1 syllable, add -EST
cold – the coldest short – the shortest big – the biggest
The cheetah is the fastest animal in the world.

Rule 2: Adjectives ending in -Y change into -IEST.
heavy – the heaviest happy – the happiest easy – the easiest
Running is the easiest sport.
The blue whale is the heaviest animal in the sea.
Rule 3: Adjectives with 2 or more syllables add MOST before
the adjective. expensive – the most expensive intelligent – the most intelligent
The Bugatti is the most expensive car in the world.
