WAS - WERE
☺ We use WAS or WERE to mention what you saw
and found in a place, picture, etc.
Examples:
- There was a lion at the zoo.  WAS for singular
- There were two monkeys at the zoo.  WERE for plural

More examples:

1. There was a girl in the park.


2. There were three boys in the park.
3. There wasn’t one slide in the park, there were two slides.
4. There weren’t ten boys in the party, there was only one boy.
5. There were five tall trees.

☺ We also use WAS or WERE to describe what you saw and found in a
place, picture, etc.
Examples:
- The window was closed.  WAS for I, he, she and it
- She was happy in the pool.
- The sharks were enormous.  WERE for you, they, we
- We were under the tree.

Negative Form:
1. The dress was red and yellow. WAS - WASN’T
2. You were sleeping on the sofa. WERE - WEREN’T
3. They weren’t at the supermarket, they
were in the cinema.
4. He wasn’t happy, he was sad about his exam.
5. The fish was next to the dolphin.
