Carter Sherman: Writer, Editor and Proofreader
Carter Sherman: Writer, Editor and Proofreader
As a prospective employee, I can bring the following skills to the table on day one:
Marketing and Editorial Experience → Over the course of my year as a student writer at North Central
College, I perfected the use of established proofreading marks, researched avidly, scheduled and performed
interviews, participated in pitch meeting and wrote and proofread articles for both web and print publications. I
also have basic SEO knowledge.
Brand adherence → During my time at North Central College as a student writer, I gained valuable experience
writing in the company voice among multiple contributors and a joint goal of increasing admissions. Additionally,
at Robbins Schwartz, where I wrote and edited outgoing content for clients, I quickly learned to maintain the
established professional voice, syntax and style consistent with the firm.
Social media content management → While I started out merely proofreading as a student writer at North
Central College, Editorial Director Laura Pohl quickly realized I was an asset to the team, and increased by
responsibilities. One of which was analyzing potential stories and creating content for the College’s social media
platforms: including Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
Avid research and knowledge of trends → As a writer, I’m no stranger to research. As a twenty-four-year-old
with a strong awareness of current trends, I will be an asset in terms of relating to young millennials.
Organization and drive → I have four years of experience thriving in rapidly-paced work environments. I’ve
developed stellar organizational and communication skills. Managing the schedules, emails and court cases of
three attorneys at once made sure I can be ready for whatever you throw at me.
While the highlights above scratch the surface of my abilities, I hope for the opportunity to discuss your objectives in
further detail and prove to you how I can deliver for your company’s needs. Thank you so much for taking the time to
review my application!
