Amorphous Template

Amorphous Introduction There are very few who understand the method by which amorphous creatures are created. Most arcane scholars believe them to be the product of an elaborate ritual, where many spell casters simultaneously unite to create small numbers of the creatures at a time. Other arcane scholars believe them to be random acts of nature or the result of a blessing (or curse) bestowed by the gods. Appearance Changes An amorphous creature looks exactly like the base creature. They are highly resistant to physical damage and can assume a formless state to flow through seemingly impassible places. None of these traits are evident upon first glance, but amorphous creatures always reveal their true nature when in combat or forced to flee. Creating an Amorphous creature Amorphous is a template that can be added to any living creature or construct (referred to hereafter as the base creature). Amorphous beings are created by magical experimentation or by ritual spell-casting. After assuming the template, the base creatures type does not change. For example, an amorphous ogre still remains a giant. All subtype information for the base creature also remains unchanged. An amorphous creature uses the base creatures statistics and inherent racial special abilities except as noted below. All class abilities of the base creature (if applicable) are retained by the amorphous version. Hit Dice: Same as base creature. Size: Same as base creature. Speed: Same as base creature. AC: Same as base creature. Attacks: Same as base creature. Damage: Same as base creature. Special Attacks: Same as the base creature. Special Qualities: An amorphous creature has all the special qualities of the base creature, plus the following: Shapelessness (Ex): Base creature gains the ability to squeeze through openings of incredibly small size (as little as 1 inch in diameter). Amorphous creatures can move along small fissures, ooze under doors, pour themselves into containers of their size or larger, and perform other similar feats by expending one full-round action to become shapeless. Movement in this formless state is reduced to 10 feet, and the being retains many vague, distorted features of the base creature. Another full-round action is required to regain the base creatures original shape. Stretch (Ex): Base creature gains the ability to increase its natural reach by 5 feet by stretching its arms, legs, tail, or other appendages in combat. This increase of reach can be maintained for a number of rounds equal to 1 + the base creatures Con Mod (minimum of 1 round) and can be initiated as a move-equivalent action. A stretch attempt may be made once every 1d4+1 rounds. Immunities (Ex): An amorphous creature is immune to damage from all bludgeoning weapons, regardless of enchantment and takes no damage from any fall of 100 feet or less. For falls in excess of 100 feet, treat the fall as if it were 100 feet shorter to determine damage. Damage Reduction (Ex): Base creature gains damage reduction 15/+3. Due to their unique shape, they take less damage from weapons of all types. No Discernible Anatomy (Ex): Since an amorphous creature does not have a well-defined anatomical structure, it is not subject to critical hits or flanking. Saves: Base creatures Fortitude save improves +2. All other saves are same as base creature. Abilities: Same as base creature.

Skills: Amorphous creatures gain a competence bonus of +15 to all Hide and Disguise checks. All other skills are the same as the base creature. Feats: Same as base creature. Challenge Rating: Base creatures CR +3. Treasure: Same as base creature. Alignment: Same as base creature. Advancement: Same as base creature.
