When we began our fourth year on Einstein Lyceum in Hoogvliet, we heard well get two additional lessons for one year. When you fail these classes you wont pass the fourth grade. The two lessons were: CKV (Culturele en kunstzinnige vorming) and Social Studies. I expected from CKV that is was a little bit like art and design. When we came into the first class mister van Druten told us that we need to answer five questions about art and that the HAVO students had to make six reports by the end of the year, and the VWO students had to make eight reports by the end of the year. I thought it was very easy to make the reports but after all it was a lot of work and I just finished it before the death line. We were also going to go to two exhibitions, Cosima von Bonin in Witte de with and the Fotomuseum. Beside of this we also needed to make a visual project in pairs, and an interview with someone in pairs. Ive made the eight reports finally and Im very glad its done. One year of CKV is enough. Actually its only about look closely to art and find emotions which you can refer to the artist or the story around the art piece. Ive made my reports about: Krller-Muller, Jachthuis Sint Hubertus, Cosima von Bonin, Antoni Gaud, Harry Potter and the deathly hallows part I, All Time Low, the Sims 3, Dunya Festival. I went to Krller-Muller and Jachthuis Sint Hubertus with my parents, I had never heard of it before but after all it was very interesting. The first exhibition with school was to Witte de with to look at an exhibition from Cosima von Bonin. I had done some research but I could find anything else but stuffed animals. When we came to the exhibition it existed of stuffed animals and cloths. The first stuffed animals were nice but when I looked further and saw only more stuffed animals, it became boring because everything was the same. For my Antoni Gaud report I didnt had to go anywhere, although I really want to go to Barcelona some day to see his buildings. I found the information in books and on the internet. With the film, Harry Potter and the deathly hallows part I, I had to go to the cinema. I went with Gideon and it was a really beautiful movie, I saw the previous films but I thought this one was the best. My sixth report was about the concert of All Time Low I went to in Amsterdam. All Time Low is my favourite band and so you can see that art can be very fun too. Ive also made a report about the game the Sims 3. Its the only game I play on the computer and the best one. You can make your character, build your own dream house, and play with you character in your house and in the city. My last report was about Dunya Festival which is a annually festival in Rotterdam, its about bringing cultures together with music, food and with a market. We also had to make an interview. You could do it together so Angela and I made some questions for someone in theatre the Stoep. We were very exited to go there and take the interview but also a bit scared. It turned out to be an amazing tour

through the theatre and she was very nice to us. After the interview we had to make a visual project. I did this together with Gideon. First we thought of an idea to make a tree with the four seasons. We made two trees mirroring each other and each tree got two seasons. So half summer and half winter and in the mirror half spring and half autumn. We made it with Photoshop. It was very fun to make and I learned a lot of Photoshop.

The positive parts were: first of all the teacher, he was very nice to us and he explained everything clearly, he really focussed on your work and if youll finish it on time. Because of that he told us to make two reports per period. The visual project and the interview were also very nice projects to work on. The negative parts were: firstly the reports. Eight reports are too much reports to make in one year, especially when youre doing VWO. You have already loads of homework to do. For some of the reports I had to stay up until two oclock. Secondly I didnt like the exhibitions. The first exhibition to Witte de with was very boring because of all the stuffed animals coming back the whole time. It would be more fun if the whole class could choose two exhibitions to got to in the year. The second exhibition was more my taste because I like to take pictures. But other people in my class dont and they have to look at pictures. I can image thats not very nice to look at if youre not interested or if your interests arent at photos.

Ive learned the way to make a good complete report about a subject although you dont have a lot of information. Just describe what you saw. Its easy to do and the reader can imagine it much better. Ive also learned that art is about your own opinion and expressions putting into art. When I did this sometimes in the class, the teacher told us it was wrong, but I stick to the point that its my own way of thinking and my own opinion.

My opinion about CKV is good. I liked the class for one year, but no longer. I couldnt take the stress next year, with one year before the exams and beside the learning I need to visit cultural things. Although I liked the thing I went to, and I think I will go to more cultural things in the future.
