Unit Weekly Guide. Week 8.

Dear Students,

Next class is on 8 May at 10.30 AM. Recording will be available in the next few days
after the class.

There will be a Class test (25%) on 8 May - Week 9, Sunday, 10.30 AM at the
beginning of the Zoom class.
The class test will be 60 minutes (no reading time) and will include 50 multiple choice
questions. Week 1-8 material will be tested.

Homework for Week 8

Q1. A drive you’re investigating contains several password-protected files. Discuss


what techniques and tools you can use for recovering passwords from the protected

Q2. You are confronted by Vladimir Chugunov, your lecturer. He says he just
received an email from your email address (...@students.mq.edu.au) where you ask
to urgently help you out and send money overseas to a Nigerian bank account.
You have not sent such an email. Explain what could have possibly happened and
how to demonstrate that to Vladimir.

Q3. An employee suspects that his password has been compromised. He changed it
two days ago, yet it seems someone has used it again. What might be going on?
