Parts, People, and Interaction

What Kind of Thinking Does This Routine Encourage?

This thinking routine will help you slow down and look closely at a system. In doing so, you are able to
situate objects within systems and recognize the various people who participate—either directly or indirectly
—within a particular system. You also notice that a change in one aspect of the system may have effects on
another aspect of the system. When considering the parts, people, and interactions within a system, you
begin to notice the subsystems within systems. This thinking routine helps stimulate curiosity, raises
questions, surfaces areas for further inquiry, and introduces systems thinking.

Design is all around us. Go on a hunt for it: Explore an area with a careful eye towards systems, in your
house or the neighbourhood. You might hunt for a specific type of system (related to the recent pandemic)
such as, lockdown system in your country, social distancing system in your country, keeping yourself
sanitized can be a system.

Instructions:
1. You will have to answer the following questions based on the chose system.
2. All your group members will answer individually and you can have a look at their answers to get a
reference.
3. Please give credits if taking ideas from your peers.
4. Uploaded pictures of yourself while doing the activity.
