The Tragedy of the Commons" by Garrett Hardin

Summary

Garrett Hardin presented an adequate formulation of the population problem to a highly educated
scientific audience in a 1968 essay. He was blunt in his assessment of the population issue. Garret
started by looking at the relationship between population and resources, and then Garret concluded
that population must be controlled. He then investigated the factors contributing to the increase in
population. He proposed solutions based on his research. Certain aspects of his problem formulation
are still worth thinking about, but today's solutions are more varied.
