Reflection

For our final seminar meeting of the semester, second-year students had the opportunity

to present their capstone projects to the first-year students. Although we could not meet in person

for the first year, I thought it was great that second-year students could still present their projects.

We have talked about our capstone project in previous seminars but having the ability to hear

what other students did for theirs gives me a better idea of what I can do my capstone project on.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on healthcare, seeing the ideas that other

classmates have inspires me to push myself harder for the capstone; I thought a lot of the ideas

and projects presented can make a huge impact. A lot of the students were able to tie their

capstone project to what their practicums were; this makes me excited to hear about what

opportunities are out there for experience. After meeting with professor Klimpel last month, I am

very eager to hear about what opportunities she has for me for my practicum hours.

Going into my second year as a graduate student, there are a lot of things that the seminar

has helped me with this past year. I think completing the ePortfolio and the competency gives me

a better idea of what concepts I need to be focusing on for each class. By having the competency

serve as a guideline, I think I will be able to get a lot more out of my classes, thus helping me

become closer to career goals. Another part of the seminar that I think was the most beneficial

was being able to talk with other students. I have gotten a lot closer to my classmates this past

semester; I have felt more confident in class sharing my ideas and also speaking with other

students. I am now apart of the HISA group and I am excited to see what the next year will bring

us.
