2. Objectives:
SWBAT + Bloom’s verb
Students will be able to have a chance to experience food from another culture and learn to
appreciate different culture cuisines.

3. Materials/Equipment:
Dumpling ingredients.
Recipe for making dumpling.

4. Teaching:
A. Plan for reading the book
B. Plan for extension activity:

A. Teacher will read the book in circle time.


B. Teacher will share with the students her knowledge of how to make dumplings from
scratch.
C. Teach the word “Gyoza” to the class.

5. Closure:
Assess the student’s learning by having them list the steps of making dumpling by having a form
of all the steps of the recipe and have students number them.

Have the students spell the word “Gyoza” correctly with a pop quiz.
Encourage them to check recipe of a dish from a different culture than theirs.

Ticket out of the door:

Students be able to distinguish between dumplings and potstickers(Fried Dumplings).

Related lesson: Students will be taught about clothes in different cultures next time and come to
school wearing clothes that represent different cultures.
