For storing and handling of sheets and boards, such as cement and gypsum boards etc., the
following requirements shall be fulfilled:
Sheets and boards shall be stacked to a height of not more than 3 pallets on dry, clean,
firm and level ground. Sheltered store preferred for storage.
Bottom of the stack shall be raised adequately from the ground level where there is a
risk of water coming on the floor.
Sheets and boards shall be stacked, covered and protected from damage due to wind,
rain, sun and excess humidity. Avoid uncontrolled environmental conditions.
Damage to the corners and surface of sheets and boards shall be prevented and
damaged sheets shall not be stacked with sound materials.
Sheets shall not be pushed forward against the lower sheet for more than one-fourth of
the sheet length.
Sheets and boards shall be lowered or raised gently and not thrown; and suitable hand
protection like gloves, etc. shall be provided to the workmen wherever necessary.
Board products (cement and gypsum) must be moved by a forklift or similar device,
They shall be lifted into position by two workmen, if necessary
Placing it vertically on edge for an extended period may damage the edges can become
unstable if proper stacking and handling procedures are not followed.
Workers must always be extremely careful when stacking or working in an area where
the board is stacked.
Boards must be covered by waterproof cover and kept it dry, clean & flat surface &
prevent damages from moisture / direct sun heat.
