AQPCI-QC Supervisor shall be responsible for review of all QC documents and reports. All such documents shall be reviewed and signed by the QC Supervisor. AQPCI-QC Inspector shall be responsible for inspection and documentation. QC Inspector shall report to the QC Supervisor. Client shall provide ‘test pup pieces’ to AQPCI-FCD at least 21 days prior to the commencement of the work. The diameter and wall thickness of the pup piece shall be exactly same as that of the line pipe on which the internal FBE coating application has to be carried out. The pup shall be 16 feet long and shall have two welds; each located at 22" from the end. AQPCI will provide all the safety measures to all FCD personnel and equipment. 6. Coating Material Handling and Storage 61 62 age 303 ABRASIVE: Approved abrasive shall be used. Blast abrasives shall not contain more than 50 ppm of Chlorides, 50 ppm Sulfates and 1.0 % by weight of carbonates. A chemical analysis report shall be furnished to the client's representative for each batch of the abrasive to verify compliance with requirement of ISO 11124-3 or 1126-10. The use of recycled steel abrasive is allowed provided it meets the requirement of SSPC-AB2. Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE): AQPCI offers the internal FBE coating systems for line pipe approved by Saudi Aramco: Manufacturer | FE KCC KCCIG 4848 ‘AKZO NOBEL Resicoat Pt HMHOSOF 110-8233) If required, other Saudi Aramco approved products can be used, Each batch of FBE powder received by APC! shall have a certificate of conformance provided by the coating manufacturer. Profile of each pipe end shall be measured using Testex Press-O-Film and provided to AQPCI prior to the initial video camera inspection. Coating Application Accepted welds shall be externally heated using a clamshell induction coils powered by high frequency induction generators. Temperature measurement shall be verified with contact Pyrometer. Temperature crayons shall not be used. The robotic crawler coating unit equipped with camera indicates the position of the girth weld area, Then, the powder shall he sprayed on the girth weld area. These videos shall be copied onto a separate indexed, master copy for the project. Disc’s record(s) distribution will be made via document transmittal at the end of the project to owner company and client. Master copy will be secured as AQPCY/OSD Master file copy. It shall be aided with a video camera to check for anomalies in the coating and weld numbers for tracking purposes. The DFT shall be uniform, and shall be within the range specified. [At least one reading for each quadrant shall be taken on the coated cutback on each side of the weld, This will give a total of eight readings for each field girth weld, ‘The camera shall be used to identify and list the weld numbers where the DFT readings were taken. Holiday Detection: Voltage requirement shall be as per 09-SAMSS-091, 2200350 Volts. Holiday detection shall not be conducted if the surface temperature of the coated girth weld area exceeds 80°C. The holiday detector to be used shall be a high voltage type and has a copper wire brush conductor. Also, it shall have a conductor holder that can be rotated one complete circle (360°). The wire brush conductor shall be wide enough to sweep the whole bandwidth of the newly coated area in one pass. The holiday detector shall be grounded properly on the launcher end of the pipe string, ‘with the aid of a clamp. If the pipe end is coated, the coating shall be removed to expose the metal and allow metal to metal contact. The ground wire shall be flexible and thin but strong enough to reach long distances without snapping/breaking. IF holiday is detected, the weld number is recorded and the field weld coating is marked for repair. MEK Cure Test (Only on Pup Piece): AQPCI QC Inspector shall perform field test(s) to check the cure of the coating on the calibration test pup as described below, A MEK soaked pad (excess MEK shall be squeezed off so that no dripping occurs) shall be placed in contact with the coating surface for one minute and shall be rubbed vigorously for 15 seconds. QC Inspector shall perform an adhesion test(s) of the coating, on each calibration test pup piece. Using a sharp knife with a narrow width blade and making two ¥ inch (13 mm) long incisions through to the metal substrate to form an ‘x’ Starting at the intersection of the ‘X’, an attempt shall be made to force the coating from the steel substrate by levering the knife point away from the steel substrate Refusal of the coating to peel constitutes a PASS. Partial or complete adhesion failure between the coating and the metal substrate constitutes a FAILURE. Cohesive failure ‘caused by voids in the coating leaving a honeycomb structure on the adhesion test area surface also constitutes failure, Results will be documented for each test. NOTE: Since dlsbondment of the V tip can occur due to the action of making the ‘x then the failure ot the point of the V should be ignored for the first 1 mm. Repair If the number of defects is more than 3 holidays on any girth weld, the coating shall be completely blasted off as per SAES-H-201 sec. 9.5.1, In this case, the weld should be cut, re-weld and recoated at the cost of the welding contractor. Surface Preparation: If there is holiday occurred, the coating will be abraded using garnet. The edges of the original coatings shall be "feathered out” approximately 50 mm around the specific area to be coated, and all dust wiped off before applying the patch coating ‘Application of Repair Material: Re-heat the girth weld to temperature required, then over coat using the same FBE powder. After the over coat is done, the girth weld area will be set for curing. Coating thickness should not be more than SOmils, Holiday Testing after repai ‘One hundred percent of the coated weld area shall be holiday tested in presence of AC Inspector, using 2 pulse type, calibrated, DC holiday detector unit provided with ‘an audible signaling device, angel hair wire brush and ground trail lead. The holiday detector shall be set at 2200!S0V and shall be calibrated twice per shift. The travel speed of holiday detector probe shall not exceed 1 ft. (305 mm} per second.
