Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 489 dated October 12, 2012 entitled Declaring
the Fourth Week (4th) of October as the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Consciousness Week, the
Sangguniang Kabataan ng Ortiz will celebrate the Observance of the 10th Juvenile Justice and
Welfare Consciousness Week with the theme “Batang Handa at May Alam, Kaisa sa Pagharap sa
Bagong Normal from November 21 – 27, 2021.
The Observance aims to mainstream the awareness and consciousness of the duties and
responsibilities of the Sangguniang Kabataan on the Management of Children-at-Risk (CAR)
and Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL).
Information Caravan that talks about how the rights and welfare of children, especially CAR
and CICL, are protected and promoted amidst the pandemic and new normal and activities and
tips on how children and their families can adapt in the new normal. It aims to showcase the
valuable recommendations from the Filipino youth sector on child protection, specifically in line
with the proper handling of children relative to violations of local ordinances such as curfew
during the community quarantine and new normal.
Symposium on Juvenile Justice and Welfare which was conducted last November 27, 2021.
This aims to provide opportunities for the youth to participate in activities to gain new skills that
they can use when they are reintegrated with their families and communities and express their
views regarding their current situation. Our resource speaker Ma’am Wilhemia E. Areola,
MSWD officer 1 used Audio-Visual Presentations to show the harmful effects of drug abuse.
They also emphasized the social, emotional and physical dangers of abuse of illegal drugs. More
importantly the legal responsibility and liability of users and pushers were discussed
