My Life Experiences

Hello, thank you for reviewing my scholarship application. My name is Gene Skiba and I

am going to graduate from Pierz Healy High in 2023. I plan on attending (blank) and will be

majoring in (blank).

During my high school career I have had many experiences that would make me a great

candidate for this scholarship. I have been involved in Big Brothers, basketball, and weight

lifting. Big brothers is a mentor program that has helped me work with kids. Each pair has one

little and one big. It gives the little a break from class to do something fun or to work on school

work with the big. Being in basketball has helped me work as a team, even when things are not

going our way. Basketball has also taught me to be confident in myself and if I fail my team has

my back. Basketball takes a lot of time and to be good you have to put in more work than

everyone else. Weight lifting has taught me the most of anything. It has made me more confident

in myself and showed me not to care what others are doing, but rather on your own personal

growth. It has also shown that if you do not like something, fix it instead of complaining about it

or feeling insecure about it. However, most of all weight lifting has taught me to do what you

can. If you can only lift the 5 pound dumbbells, lift them.
