Personal Belief Statement

When I was a sophomore in high school I would attend my mother’s physical therapy

appointments up until my senior year. I would attend the session with her due to having to help

her with translating. Seeing the progression my mom made and being part of that experience

intrigued me to look into this profession. Growing up, I always enjoyed helping others. I was

known to have the biggest heart in my family. I wanted a career that where my compassion and

caring for other could be put to daily use. I decided to look into this profession and better yet

they had it available in my community college I was currently taking my prerequisites and had

then decided to focus on completing the remaining classes they required to apply for the PTA

program.

Compassion and care are both core values in the Physical Therapy profession. I was intrigued

by the fact of working with a Physical therapist and a team where you’re able to bounce off your

knowledge from one another and help each other grow as a clinician. I wanted to pursuer in this

career to attend the patients personal needs and comforts and demonstrating respect and

considering others as unique and of value, also empowering patients to achieve the highest level

of function possible.

Becoming a Physical therapist will allow me to be a part of a patient’s rehabilitation journey

and being able to see how my patient progresses and achieves their goals. I hope to draw on the

knowledge that I have occurred during my academic and clinical experiences over the last two

years and always strive to be the best clinician for my future patients.
