2. Analysis
In general, MIDAS CIVIL software will be use for the analysis and grillage method will be
use in global analysis of carriageway. Below is the general information of the bridge that
will be considered in modelling.

To analyse the structure, finite element software MIDAS CIVIL shall be used. A grillage
model is used for the global analysis.

2.2. Construction Sequence
Modelling in MIDAS is also taking consideration on the construction sequence to show the
relation between concrete age/strength, creep, shrinkage, tendon losses and etc. that

All the sections were either produced using CAD and then imported into MIDAS software
through the sectional property tool (SPT) or using the composite-PSC section tools in
MIDAS. Their properties were derived by means of this tool and for any further needs in
the analysis stage will be calculated by hand.

The prestress tendon profiles are input into the analysis based on the duct profile shown
in below figure, MIDAS defines the profiles with respect to the local element orientation.
Losses in the tendons are automatically calculated based on the tendon geometry.

The dead load of precast beam is being derived by means of the MIDAS software and
modelling package, by accounting for the cross-sectional properties input.

6.2 HA Loading
HA loading is a formula loading representing normal traffic in Great Britain. The live
loading for each loaded length and notional lane shall consist of a HA UDL and a knife
edge load (KEL). Or of a single wheel load. Appropriate lane factors are applied through
MIDAS moving load patch.
