Luke 24:5-8 (ESV) 5 And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men

said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, 7 that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise." 8 And they remembered his words, Verse 5 says it all about man's religion seeking the living among the dead. It is clinging to the idea that our hope is found here in this world - relationships, jobs, possessions, money, pleasures. These all satisfy for a season, but they ultimately are a let down, a failure. Relationships fail, jobs change, possessions deteriorate, pleasures last for the moment and then the their emptyness becomes starkly real. Verse 6 & 7 offers the hope to this cycle - He is not here among the dead. His way is not the way of the world that eventually passes, crumbles, turns to dust. Instead, ...he has risen..., and the events unfolded just as Jesus had said they would. Sold out, beaten, wrongfully accused, persecuted, dragged up on a hill and nailed to a cross to die. What He says can be trusted. It is sure to come true, so in verse 8 we are reminded to remember his word. This is not just what had happened but what is happening and what will happen. His promises are sure and true and trustworthy. His resurrection seals the promises of salvation, the promises of forgiveness, the promise of becoming a new creation in Christ, of sharing in His inheritance, of life eternal with Him in Heaven. So pray for me to remember His words not only tomorrow when we celebrate His resurrection, but everyday we inhale and exhale the grace of God. I do the same for you. Love, Dad
