1. SEGMENT 1: Play the segment, then give students time to read the summary in
Spanish, then to summarize the summary in English.
2. SEGMENT 2: Watch and listen to the segment several times as students ll in the
blanks in the transcript using the words provided in the bank.
3. SEGMENT 3: Watch the segment, then have students respond to the four T/F
questions provided.
4. SEGMENT 4: Watch the segment several times as students describe what the
woman is doing and look for objects to list in Spanish.
6. SEGMENT 6: Watch the video, give students time to read the summary in
Spanish, and then to think through and respond to the questions in Spanish.
7. SEGMENT 7: Watch the segment, then allow students time to read through the
transcript and guess the meaning of the words used in the video. You may choose
to watch the segment several times to allow students to use the subtitles as
additional help in de ning terms.
8. SEGMENT 8: Students could sing along with the video or simply read the lyrics
and mark how many times they hear each line or stanza.
9. SEGMENT 9: Students watch this segment several times as they put the
sentences from the transcript in order.
4. To wrap up this lesson, consider doing a very simple coloring activity. Give students
the handout of the butter y to color in however they wish. As they work, walk around
and talk to students about what they have learned in Spanish. This could be a
formative or summative speaking assessment, or it could just be a nice way to
connect with your students. Wrapping up this lesson with a little coloring is nice
because the “Here come the dead” video is very somber, and students often are left
with some emotions that are good to process. Coloring is a great way to allow them to
be alone with their thoughts for a little while.
