MODULE
CAREER CHECK:
11 EXPLORING MY PATHWAY
Learning Objectives
1. determine the career clusters in line with one’s interests and inclinations;
2. evaluate the meaning and significance of one’s career choices; and
3. create a career road map.
Let’s Review
In the previous module, you were guided towards relating your choice of career
to your interests, skills, abilities, and competencies. You also learned the importance
of taking into consideration your personal experiences and opinions of your parents
and guardians in making meaningful decisions.
Introduction:
The labour market trend is a dynamic and fast-pacing factor in your career
choices. As a K to 12 student who is gearing up for Senior High School and will soon
take on the different Curriculum Exits, it is important that you explore your career
pathway to which your decision may lead.
Remember also to realize the personal meaning of your choices. Individuals find
their own paths to career choice based on personal meaning that life events have for
them. To enable a deepened and intensive career guidance, it would be essential to
allow realization on the reason and significance of your career choices in your own life.

Let’s Try This
Before you embark on any journey, you must first identify your purpose leading to your
destination. This activity will help you realize the meaning of your career choices.
1. Copy and complete the activity on a sheet of paper.
2. List down at least three career options or desired professions that you currently have
in mind. Then, reflect and identify the significant reasons why you intend to pursue
that career. Refer to an example provided.
Processing Questions:
1. Did you find it difficult/easy to decide on your career options? Briefly explain your
answer.
2. What is the importance of realizing the reason and significance of your career choices?
A career cluster is a group of jobs that require similar skills or share common
characteristics. Let this activity help you in confirming your career choices and deciding
what track and strand will you take in Senior High School.
1. Choose a career cluster that interest you most by identifying and counting the
statements that apply to you.
2. Then record the number of statements that apply to you in each cluster by copying
and completing the table on a sheet of paper.

1. What are the top three clusters with the greatest number of statements that apply to
you?
2. What did you discover more about your career interests while completing the
activity?
Keep in Mind
Suggested Time Allotment: 15 minutes
Knowing your career pathway is very essential to make sure that you are on the
right track towards achieving your goals in life. As a Grade 10 learner, it is important to
be informed about the available career options for you so that you can prepare and plan
your actions.
Each career clusters presented in the previous activity represents inclinations and
interests that align with a particular Senior High School (SHS) track or strand. To help
you decide on your future career, here is the Career Wheel which showcases the different
career pathways.
8
There are different ways of using the Career Wheel. One way is to look for your
prospective career options and corresponding SHS tracks and strands. For example, if
you are interested in becoming an Entrepreneur or put your own business in the future,
one of your options is to take the SHS Academic Track, particularly the Accountancy,
Business and Management (ABM) Strand. Another way to use the wheel is to look at the
track or strand you are most inclined to and see what career options are available for you
after SHS or college.
Once you were able to harvest your career choice through the interaction of
different factors and elements such as your skills, interests, values and attitude toward
your career, experiences, interpersonal relationships, and educational preparation; you
will be able to identify the meaningful characteristics of your chosen career in your life.
We find our own paths to career choice based on the personal meaning that we
attach to them. The deeper the meaning that we give to our choices, the more significant
our career choices are in our lives.
1. Referring to the result of your previous activity in Career Interest Clusters and using
the Career Wheel as your guide, map out your career pathway.
2. Copy and answer the activity on a sheet of paper.
POTENTIAL CAREERS/BUSINESS:
