Paula is a hard-working and responsible employee that does all her best at

work. She deserves to have a managerial position, but she also needs to change
some things. Being a good manager also means to be able to work with people
and she has some problems with that.
Firstly, she needs to change her attitude, because people are different,
especially if they are older. Older people have a lower work-rate, because of
their age and she was too demanding.
Secondly, understanding peoples’ needs is very important for building good
relationships between manager and employees and if someone needs a well-
deserved break, I think it is understandable to allow it.
Thirdly, she needs to keep private her personal life, because being
professional means being able to separate your personal and professional life.
In addition, If I were upper management, I would analyze the situation and
give some pieces of advice to Paula regarding her problems with the staff. Also,
I would talk to the staff and explain to them that they do not need to be so harsh
on Paula, because she just tries to be a good employee.
In conclusion, working with people is a big challenge in the world of
management, but with patience and paying attention to the people behavior, it is
possible to find the right way to approach them and create friendly environment
at work and that is a great lesson to be learned.
