OUR GUILD JUDGE

TALLAHASSEE, FL

Tara Richards Swartzbaugh is a faculty member at the University of Tampa where she is a Piano
and Theory instructor. She holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from The University of Tampa, and
a Master of Arts in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Texas Woman’s University. She has
had a private piano studio for many years and currently teaches mostly University of Tampa
Students. She has judged for the National Guild and the National Federation many times,
including tours in Rome, GA and Coral Gables, FL. She is currently the South Tampa Guild Chair
and is hosting their Guild Auditions next week.

Mrs. Swartzbaugh is also the Chancel Choir Director and Organist at First Presbyterian Church in
Brandon. She serves as Musical Director and accompanist for The University of Tampa
Department of Speech Theater and Dance, as the director of the OPUS Broadway/Pop group,
and as the accompanist for the H. B. Plant High School Choral Department. Tara is a member of
Sigma Alpha Iota (music), Alpha Psi Omega (theater), American Guild of Organists, and the
American Choral Directors Association. She lives in South Tampa with her husband Bill, and their
five cats.
