“Editorial”
“Why is it important for the youth of Barangay Batasan Hills to be involved in the
2022 national and local elections?” Why? It’s because we live in this barangay and we
have the right to know what will happen to us. With just one vote for every youth in every
barangay will make a great impact to every one of us.
The inclusion of young people in formal political processes is important from the
start. Our National Hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal once said that the youth are the hope of the
country and through active participation, young people are empowered to play a vital role
in our own development as well as in that of their communities, helping them to learn
vital life-skills, develop knowledge on human rights and citizenship and to promote
positive civic action. With just one vote from us it can change the fate of every one of us
it can be good or bad. With just one wrong vote of the candidate it will cost us a lot because
we elect them and we might end up getting lost. By voting, citizens are participating in the
democratic process. Citizens vote for leaders to represent them and their ideas, and the
leaders support the citizens' interests. Inclusive political participation is not only a
fundamental political and democratic right but also is crucial to building stable and
peaceful societies and developing policies that respond to the specific needs of younger
generations. Through media or petitions, we can spread our voices through other online
platforms and we can spread real news.
Having an involvement in the election is one of the biggest things we can do for our
barangay it is one of the many things we can do. So being registered in the COMELEC is
you need to do so you can vote in every election even if it is local or national.
