I.

Come up with your own idea as an intervention to air pollution which would be feasible in
your area.

As time goes by, our world has been advancing in terms of technologies, knowledge,
skills, and more. We learn things that we use to invent technologies that help us with our
everyday tasks and get better skills in particular fields to earn money. All of these, although they
provide comfort to us, also have negative impacts on our environment. Air pollution is one of the
major problems our world faces right now, aside from water and land pollution. Air pollution is
defined as the release of pollutants into the atmosphere that is harmful to human health and the
environment as a whole. According to the National Park Service, there are four primary air
pollution sources: Mobile sources, Stationary sources, Area sources, and Natural sources. I
believe that all of us are responsible for taking care of our environment, especially the air,
because we are inhaling it into our bodies; therefore, we should take care of it.

I am still a student; hence, I have limited resources to help our world predominantly, but
it does not mean that we cannot provide any good even in our community. Let us look at the
area where I live and provide alternative things to lessen air pollution. Most of my neighbors are
using air conditioning. For me, they should opt for a fan instead of air conditioning; the proper
operation of an air conditioner necessitates a significant amount of energy. It uses a lot of
electricity and thereby produces pollution. When fossil fuels are burned, carbon dioxide, also
known as a greenhouse gas, is emitted into the atmosphere, contributing significantly to ozone
depletion. The second one is planting trees, our area is now filled with cement, and you can
barely see soil; therefore, there is nowhere to get trees planted. Plants and trees may appear
insignificant to us daily, but they are essential for life and our long-term survival. Plants enhance
the air quality in several ways:

● They absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen through photosynthesis.

● They increase humidity by transpiring water vapor through microscopic leaf pores.
● They can passively absorb pollutants on the outer surface of leaves and the root-soil
system of the plant.
Most of them own a car or motorcycle which is a mobile source of air pollution hence I suggest
they take a walk instead, especially when they are just going somewhere nearby. We lower the
number of harmful emissions emitted and released into the atmosphere when we choose
walking over other forms of transportation (such as cars and motorcycles). These emissions
have a negative influence on the natural and physical environments, as well as our health.

It is just some of the so many things that I and my neighbors can do to help decrease the
air pollution, and simple modifications can drastically reduce the amount of pollution you are
exposed to. Begin small and build on your accomplishments. Soon, we'll all be able to breathe a
sigh of relief.
